It really is Greg, this shows the Tree of Life inlay and the MOP binding that goes right round the body and fretboardLunch Money wrote:Beautiful.

Flatwounds aren't nearly as dull sounding as some people seem to think. They do have a different sound though, they lack that metallic aggressiveness. I use flats on my semi-acoustic bass of the un-encumbered variety (i.e. fretless), and I love 'em.kevvvvv wrote:What sort of music are you into to use flatwounds? Pls tell

Oh, and precision basses and flatwound strings are a marriage made in bass heaven.
I've taken to mucking about with a plectrum on my semi-acoustic, it gives a nice, vaguely oud-ish vibe.Egad ... I just realised you use a plectrum Shocked

I haven't bought a new guitar, but my RP-50/Telecaster project is nearing completion.
I'll post some pics and descriptions soon........
kevvvvvv - I have zero cash, but I am pining for a little shredder cos I've been learning lots of Slayer riffs lately

That would be cool. Although I'm already counting pennies to see if I could get a MusicMan Silhouette, and the GAS factor seems quite high with that 8 stringer...Har wrote:Been doing a lot of recording with it recently for some new C&TC tracks; I'll try to knock out a couple of quick examples to hear this weekend.
No, that wasn't me.

Um, if I told you it has sadowski hum-cancelling/stagered poll piece pickups and a very nice esp replacement bridge (as well as the original parts) would that make it MORE temptingdebra1rlo wrote:very tempting hibidy

Well, for my last actual guitar I purchased I'd have to go back one more, which I got about a year ago or so.kevvvvv wrote:Bass guitarists are starting to hijack this thread
It's a Schecter electric hollowbody 12-string (again I need to get some nicer photos taken):

EDIT: here's a stock shot:

In fact, they basically last longer and "record" much better than you'd think AND are defiantly better than round's that are worn.vonRed wrote:Flatwounds aren't nearly as dull sounding as some people seem to think.kevvvvv wrote:What sort of music are you into to use flatwounds? Pls tell

Be happy orchestral payers don't start posting here, just imagine starting to GAS for a contrabass clarinet or somesuch, not a single one below 2000 buck. Heck, I started looking for a French horn (not that it would fit in my music, but I played one in school and always loved that haunting tone...), 1500 would only get me a bottom-of-the-line kiddy starter kitkevvvvv wrote:Bass guitarists are starting to hijack this thread

I actually did get an electric guitar a while ago, but I can't find the camera. It's hard to play, everything's so small...

I sold and played boat loads of Dan Electros back when I was still in retail. Yes they do sound vintage, but then it's simple lipsticks and masonite construction...how hard can it be to capture that? I really liked the baritone, I should of bought one when I could get them cheap.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
