M-Audio Axiom 25 or PCR 300?

Hi all, I'm trying to decide between purchasing an M-audio axiom 25 or edirol pcr 300. I like the 300, but I've heard that the drum pads are kinda crappy and that the automap feature doesn't really work. That being said, I also like the axiom 25 because of it's nice drum pads, but I hear the keys are kinda cheap feeling. If anybody could help me out with some advice, opinions, or sugesstions, please do so! Thanks!

I have the axiom25.... had some problems with the power supply.. pretty soon after buying it... but that was fixed up without much fuss...
I think the keys feel quite nice compared to the other 25 key controllers I played at the time.. theres a bit of weight behind them... And I can't complain about the drum pads at all... I've heard the ones on the Akai controllers are the best.. but i've never played one.
My only regrets is the number of keys I bought - I keep wishing that there were more... even the 49 key model would've been fine... it'd have a few more controllers to... but this way I can justify buying a weighted 88key controller/piano down the line!

I have the Axiom 49, I really like it a lot. The keys don't feel cheap to me. They actually feel really tight and stiff, not flimsly at all. My only gripe about it is that I don't like how the Knobs making a clicking noise each time you turn them. I just personally find it kind of annoying. I wish they turned smoothly and noise-less like the sliders. Other than that, it's all good IMO. If I was you, I would probably roll with the 49key atleast, 25 is pretty small. That's up to you to decide of course, as you might want something more compact.

Is there a way you can mess with them at a Guitar Center or Sam Ash? I have the Axiom 61 and I agree the keys feel fine. You may just need to get your hands on them and test drive to see what feels best for you.

The keys on my Axiom needed some playing to "wear them in". They were quite clanky and unpredictable when new out of the box. Now they are silent and imho wonderful.
The feel is precise and tactile enough to have a positive effect on playing responsive instruments, I simply enjoy playing more than with my old Evolutions or friends Rolands & older M-Audios.

yesterday i visited my local dealer and compared the axiom to the pcr-300.
just the feel of the hardware, the controllers werent connected to any sound engine.
i much prefered the axiom.
i prefered the feel of the keys. they were more similar to the remote sl which is very ok.
when i pressed one button of the pcr the whole plate moved.
the axiom just made an overall more stabile impression on me.
and then came the biggest point.
the keys of the pcr are smaller than the axiom keys.
making it harder for my not really clumpsy fingers
to get between the black keys.

I agree. Everytime i go to play my axiom i have to press all of the keys down to get that kink out of them, even though i play it everyday..jon wrote:The keys on my Axiom needed some playing to "wear them in".
