Anyway, I reckon I'll be going for Cubase 4. The only thing I don't like about it is the dongle; something that's easily lost if I'm taking my laptop around with me, and also easily left at home (sort of thing you realise when you're on the train somewhere) I wish they would abolish it, it doesn't stop crackers, just slows the program down as it needs to address the USB port whenever a function is requested.

However, that aside. I think it might be worthwhile buying this.
Cubase 4 / Wavelab 6 (been out over a year) have never been and will never be properly cracked like previously. It took a year last time and the team responsible are no more. The dongle dosnt slow down anything. Its THE most effective anti piracy device around. Yes and the most hated. Logic Pro 7.x has a similar dongle.

Does anyone know what the sysex support in Logic 8 is like?

@UltraJv:
as for the above comment; in Cubase, the dongle DOES affect performance (it always has ever since the Atari version) the current SX versions have to address the USB bus each time you access the key editor, plus it's a pain if you are writing music on the move with your laptop - after losing my mouse's infra red receiver and USB memory stick on the train, I'm never carrying extra crap around with me again. This is why I use Ableton 6 on my Mac when travelling - no dongle, and not been cracked on the mac (as far as I'm aware).
Logic Pro 8.x has NO dongle ;)
