Don't use my JV1080 much anymore. I have Kompakt and quite like it for its ease of use, but nowhere near the editing power of the JV.

Are there any affordable plugs that would have a good selection of world sounds, real world instruments, and such? Or maybe just Kompakt and some good sample sets? I'm thinking of selling my JV1080 and 4 SRJV Roms for a software replacement.

Don't sell it!!!
I think the Roland JV 1080 has sounds that you just can't replace!

I sold my jv1080 a long time ago and have been searching for a plugin to take it's place in my production flow. Sadly i haven't found one yet. BUT, i made some Kontakt patches of the drumkits (my altered ones that is) and i gladly fall back to them.
As far as other VST's are concerned. I found Purity to most resemble the jv1080 feel and sound, but it's nowhere as versitale. Hypersonic is a good alternative too, worked with it a few times now.

Still, neither vsti can take the jv1080's place. I hope Roland makes a firewire / hardware synth that has the jv1080's sounds plus an option to import wav's. Now that would be a nice addition to my studio. ;)

Would be cool if a vst could replace a JV-1080... But that's not going to happen.

Aw man...bummer. What do you guys think of Wusikstation? Doesn't really "sound" like the Rolands, but has a nice sound and doesn't seem hyped, very easy to put in mixes.

Great converters on the JV-1080...I think that's the biggest obstacle. Also love the structures and infinite possibilities with those. Guess I'm just going to have to get an Encore Knobby so all these rack units aren't a pain to use.

Maybe Roland will do what Emu did with the Proteus line and make a plug....but probably not til' they're out of the hardware game.

Hey lhm1138...
if you insist in selling your JV, why don't you just sample your favorite JV samples and use them in your vst sampler??

lhm: Have you looked at the Korg wavestation vsts? I tried the demo and thought it to be quite capable (but no buy yet hehe :))
