Tool for making loops from/for ambient sound

I have been looking for ages for a tool which allows me to quickly try out loops from large wave files of sampled sound (e.g. recorded ambience, movies, etc.) I don't need any beatslicing... just an easy way to set a window within the wave, move it about, seamless looping of that window, pitch control and a loop export function. And of course I want a continuous live preview of the loop I'm working on.
Up until now I've always used regular wave editors for this... but most of them (and I have tried my fair share) are so cumbersome for doing just the particular thing I described. I was wondering if there are any dedicated tools for this?

I don't intend to sound like a smartass, but this sounds like something you could easily do in Ableton Live. If you take your large file into Live's session view, you can set your loop size to anything within that file, you can grab the "loop brace" to move the range of that loop while the file is playing and you can simultaneously record your "moves" and pitch changes, etc. into another Live clip. that may not be seamless as you'd like, but it can certainly create some interesting files suitable for ambient, IDM, etc...
There's another device out there called Time Freezer which approaches this from yet another angle. ya may want to look into that as well...it doesn't look like they offer a demo version anymore...they do have a cool demo vid on the site, though...
neither is exactly what you're looking for and what you are describing sounds really cool, vaen. I'd be interested in that sort of utility myself

check out Cecilia....its a front end for Csound...if you can get past the somewhat convoluted installation, you will be rewarded....fantastic for sample experimentation! Free!
