Oboe

Any oboe lovers?

I'm working on a song that has a oboe in it that should be mixed pretty upfront, so I'm looking for the best possible quality.

I now have Kirk Hunter Emerald, an old Miroslav Akai CD (but still sounding good) and the mini VSL set that came with Kontakt2.

Would I get much improvement if I used a oboe- or woodwind-only library like Westgate Studios Oboe or some woodwind library from VSL (their website seems to be a bit messed up at the moment ) ?

bigfishaudio.com is selling the westgate material and they have downloads available for each instrument at 49 dollars.

Strange, at Westgate Studios they sell the downloadable versions for $70.

I think definitely Westgate modular and French Oboe (not sure its still available) are pretty good choices. Miroslav has a nice oboe too, no legato but the timbre is really sweet.

I ended up buying the downloadable Westgate oboe via BigFishAudio. Demos sounded very nice and it's more than 1 Gb for $49, unbelievable!

I have to complete the download in 24 hrs though, which will be something else.
