Difference of -150dB, well that is not significant is it? I have yet to compare some outcomes... So only rounding errors and volume differences are expected?

Hi stefancrs, stefancrs wrote:I have but I still am a lazy-ass. I got the files at work. Podium renderings. Difference when compared to samplitude was at -150dB or something. You could see the floats running out of precision (taking giant steps instead of being able to change their values smoothly), so unless two hosts render everything with exactly the same volume (master volume or whatever) you will get the same error. You get the same error when you render from just one host but two times with slightly different master volumes. So... But I'll try to get it online soon
Are you saying Podium was better or worse than Samplitude?

They are identical. It's just a difference in volume. Which I claimed before even making any tests whatsoever. It's only non-developers that claim anything else

Hi Stefan!
Maybe I did something wrong (i think i actually did) but I did this render test with 16 tracks of noise in two different programs: Cubase and Tracktion. Then compared results in CoolEdit. And its different! not much, but still...
Can I send you the files? pm plz...

Bumped for hibidy
The archive on the second post is still available for download, so anyone can still do this DAW summing test.

I don't have the result files any longer though. I had them at work, and I've changed where I work twice since this thread...
But, to sum it up (no pun intended), the only differences we managed to measure was master level differences, apart from with one version of tracktion that had some odd render bug.

But those are very easy to reproduce, since you'll get the same results using any hoststefancrs wrote:I don't have the result files any longer though.

Yeah, but that's not what people who doesn't believe that there's no difference in "summing quality" between hosts want to do. They just want the hard proof, instead of investigating the issue themselves. People that don't accept proof presented by others are often the same people that are too lazy to perform the (very easy) test themselves, and are often the same people that keep the myth alive...
