sample

A few years ago in some kind of projectweek at school i got to work with some roland equipment, one of it being the Juno-D synth. My mate and I created a track around this sound, and now i'd really like to recreate it with software.
It's a preset on that Juno-D, so I tought i'd check the presets of all my softsynths but none come close..

Please, HOW!?

It was called "pizz saw" on the Juno-D btw

Hard to tell from your short little blip - but sounds like a pcm type sound. Check Korg M1 plugin, or SQ8L - near perfect emu of Ensoniqs ESQ/SQ-80.

That partial is so very Rolandesque that I'm certain I could nail that on my D-50, or even my TG500, or SY77, but sadly no software equiv of these exist tmk.

you cant tell me how i can build this sound from scratch?

Well - what do you have at your disposal?

BTW - You're not gonna get this sound without something that can use a PCM or sample.

That is just a sample that's in every Roland synth since the D50. Get the sample and you have the sound. Easy as that.

i've got vanguard, z3ta+, v-station, massive, blue and the synths that came with FLS7

Just google pizzicato sample. I'm sure you'll find something.

Why not just use that wav in a sampler?
Recreating it from scratch in a synth looks like a complex job.

Not any pizzicato sample will do if you want to come close - your example had a very hard hitting quite digital sounding pizz - aka Rolandesque. If you're able to find something close, load that sample into z3ta+ and set another OSC using a sine or tri waveform an octave below it with a short attack, no sustain envelope on it. Add a bit of reverb and that should do it.

i got something close with jx220, but it sound thin and dull in comparison to the original roland juno-d sample..

in a more easy way, if anyone here's got one of those juno-d's and doesnt mind to make a samplepack from that pizz saw preset (in the way it contains a sample of every key on the keyboard), it would be a great help as well..

I have a Juno-D right next to me. I could make a soundfont if you like.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

Easy for who exactly?

That sounds like the famous pizz sample from the Dance expansion for the Roland JD/JV series. All hell broke loose when Faithess used it on the track "Insomnia" in terms of "OMG HOW DO I GET THAT SOUND," so I'll bet they ported it to some other synths.

To my ears it's always sounded like 2 pizz voices an octave appart with some eq, compression, and reverb. The only way anyone will ever know is to ask the original sound designer.

How's this?

I haven't sampled every key, I don't have that sort of time but it should be reasonable quality.
