Late to the party, but I wanted to express my thanks for both the software and the contribution to the GNU GPL ethos.

I'm glad that some people use this humble software! Don't hesitate to send feedback about new options.

ok,like new version,'change all' and 'total random' buttons are great, but i don't think we really need the 'are you sure?' nag.
how about when saving the preset,it defaults to the folder from where you just dragged the vst from?
nice work.

* "are you sure?" nag: I will put a "don't show this message again" checkbox on this message box, but I think it's necessary to prevent people.
* default folder: I think you just have to save a first preset in the right folder and the nexts will be on the same place. Is it really too hard
?
Moreover, I'm trying a german translation...

no,what i mean is,now that you can drag and drop the dll,it would be good to default save preset to that folder,as that it where my host(eXT) looks for them.i know it's not the same for other hosts....do you get me?

@ spacedad, I've had some problems when using host randomising on SE built synths, where there is a 'limited list' being used. for example, if the osc has 10 waveforms in the list, but you using list->bool + bool->list to make the GUI only show 4 of them, then the randomise tool will still pick from the list of 10. Bugs ranging from wrong selection to weird GUI behaviour and crashes occur. Maybe it's related to this?

@de la mancha;well this synth's a bit of a hotchpotch,so it could something like that,i'll have a look when i get time.
btw,it doesn't crash, just gives error then loads the bank but presets don't work.

This thread is a bit old but I still develop the VST Preset Generator.
Yesterday I've released the version 0.2.5 with 64bit plug-in support, so you may look at it:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/vst-preset-gen/
Thanks!

Hey,
just found this neat little tool. I was overwhelmed by that Oatmeal instrument, which has a very useful randomize button (which creates useful results). The randomizer in FL often produces crap, as we all know, there can be multiple problems, like dry/wet, muting etc,,,
It's a great playground, but I think it could be so much better, getting (good) results is still hard work. Because what I do:
- Load Plugin
- Find all Volume knobs and change to gaussian distrib. or fixed value
- Find balance knobs and change to gaussian around the centre
- Find and change whatever deal breaker setting (dry/wet, pitch set to the sky... etc etc.. you know, there can be many!)
This has to be done every time and already is a lot of work due to the looooong lists of settings which many vsts have! It would be so much better, if my above settings would be saved in the vpg files. Another idea would be, that your program would auto detect and populate values by user definition, at plugin load. Like:
- "If midi setting name contains 'vol' set rand to linear, min = 0.7, max = 1"
- "If midi setting name contains 'balance' set rand to fix, val = 0.5"
But still, nice to have it.
Another idea: batch output of FXP. E.g. Serum can not have a bank with multiple presets. Would be nice if program could export multiple fxp at once.
I think the 32 bit version should have the <x86> program files path as default path for opening VSTs.
Thank you
Mike
