X-Gear is now available for download in your user accounts!!!

Enjoy and post your impressions!!

-------------------------

Well, apparently that the X-Gear was released for the StompIO, and this month for us simple mortals this month, as well as Amplitube Metal edition

-------------------------
Yep, it is THIS month that it is happening...

Can't wait :D

-------------------------
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x :x :x

http://www.ikmultimedia.com/NewsDisplay.php?Id=956

A new software shell-host that allows you to open ANY current and future "Powered by AmpliTube" amp and FX system in a single interface (AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™, Ampeg SVX, AmpliTube 2 Live and the new AmpliTube Metal) with full mix and match between all of included models, and live control with the StompIO or MIDI controllers.

Hallelua!!!!

Edit: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....They are charging money for the software!!! I thought it was for free, hence my joy. I am still happy, but 99.99$ less :(

Edit2: Well, here is what is supposed to be the official IKMM policy on the AXG
AmpliTube X-GEAR will be provided free of charge to any registered user of two or more "powered by AmpliTube" products. So as an AmpliTube 2 Live user, you would automatically receive X-GEAR upon registering any other AT product.
This includes AT2 Live!

That's really weak that they're charging for this functionality. I could always just hypothetically chain them together, so I don't see the need or desire to charge me for the convenience. But whatever. I might buy future products, but I'm not going to pay IK for a plug-in to chain their own plug-ins.

Otherwise, it would have been really cool.

yeah midi control is overdue and I think they should give it to you free if you have two or more of the software that it works with.

The biggest Ripoff that IKM pulled so far was the Amplitube2Duo. That shit costs 199USD(!) and you only get 2 Amps, 2 Cabinets, 2 mics, 1 Stompbox and Wah Pedal and nothing else.

SERIOUSLY WTF?! For this money I can get Revalver 2 mkII or a full blown GearBox set! If I'd thrown that much money out for 2Duo rather then getting it bundled with RealStrat from Musiclab, I'd be seriously more pissed that I am now.

And seriously... what's not "metal" on the old Amplitube? Do we really need another revision? No joke, but I'd rather put my money into something that has more to offer and costs way less, bust sounds as good (or even superior)

100% with you both on this one. I think this functionality should have been given for free, especially since AT2 standalone should have been MIDI controllable since day one!!

You know compy, I hate to admit it, but for distortion, AT2 is not really that "hot". I much prefer AT2JHE, or Revalver MKII.

I am seriously hoping that ATM will be IKMM answer to MKII's high gain.

$1049 for the StompIO? Unreal.
Remember the iLokalypse Summer 2013

Samples and presets and free stuff!

It seriously blows that they'd charge $100 for a plug-in chainer to chain together plugs you've already paid $200-300 a pop for.

Yeah, I had that in another theard. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... ht=stompio

very expensive indeed.

Squids tells me that these units though are hand build in italy. I am not sure if it was only the first batches, or the production runs as well.

But it is a bit too much for an I/O interface and sound module with no DSP on board.

Like I said, for the money you spent on Amplitube 2, Jimmy Hendrix, Ampex and the chainer, you can get:

a) Revalver MkII Full Blown
b) NI GuitarRig (at least twice)
c) Line6 GearBox Gold (even the core pack has 16+ Amps and 12 Stompboxes ALONE), and a Variax 300 inlcuding control software on top of it

IKM is the master of ripoffs. They really remind me of Waves now. Only like 2% of their stuff is really good, and you have to pay for the rest - and the name IKM. At least they don't have a dongle anymore.

Really dissapointing.

???? I thought Amplitube2Duo was a product that is bundled with other stuff not for sale on it's own...
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

This set me back on my heels as well. That's a shedload of dough. Yeah, I know that it replaces a ton of hardware, etc., but still, NI's Guitar Rig is much cheaper IIRC.

AT2 does have great tone. Can't take that away from 'em. But I agree with A3ntar that it generally doesn't run real hot for metal distortion. GR2 does a much better job of this. But then again, owning GR2 and AT2 probably means that I'm all set in the FX department.

My BIG question is: What kind of systems are you guys running that you could support several Amplitube emulations IN SEQUENCE in the X-Gear shell? AT2 has quality tone, but you pay a heavy price on CPU getting all those nifty FX in series. That's a lot of math for any computer to tackle. But then run it in sequence with ATJH and ATM simultaneously?Sorry, but I'm out. Maybe there's a computer over at NASA that could handle that strain, but I'm fairly certain that my own rig (and it's pretty state-of-the-art) would give me a lot of grief.

And you performers using laptops live probably wouldn't stand a chance.

Although I play guitar, I don't really consider myself a guitarist since I was trained on the piano. But I also have to ask: Is there a real demand for putting 40 or 50 different effect modules in the signal chain? The original Amplitube only had 6 stomps (Chorus, Phase, Flange, Dist., Verb and Delay) and that seemed to cover things pretty well.

Bing! I've had a love/hate relationship with IKMM's pricing for a long time now (going back to the Sampletank 1 to 2 upgrade). They're just bizarre.

First, they over charge right from the outset only to later offer "crossgrdes" to everyone and their mother. For instance if you got Sampletank 1LE with your soundcard you probably qualify for a crossgrade. These crossgrades will bring the prices down from crazy to reasonable. Then they'll bundle a bunch of stuff together to the point where once you break down the bundle pricing you're actually getting a good deal. If you look at IK's bundle pricing, they certaintly undercut Waves by a long shot. But then they'll do something crazy like release this Amplitube shell and charge for it. All I can ask is: :? ?
