Ya know, I know we all talked about but when did IK ever actually say it? Squids might have let it slip that it could be integrated with AT2 but I doubt he ever said it was going to be free, he's too smart for that...or maybe they changed up on him...I don't know.

I agree, we all thought that was going to be the case and it is but it ain't free fer sure.

Ah well...whatcha gunna do? I may buy, I may not...I really only use ATJHE anymore anyway...

Yes, it will be released within 2007 :)

I will start now taking bets :)
I bet it finally comes out December 31st...

...2008.

IK is notorious for announcing crap YEARS before it's released. Look at Studiophonik. It was announced...when? 2004-2005? And it's not even out yet. Squids Tron Vol. 2 was supposed to be released over a year or two ago before it was cancelled and replaced by Sampletron, which was announced about January or February of this year. And supposedly it's coming out "within a month or so."

Whatever. At least Line 6 doesn't announce stuff until it's ready to ship.

Price & Availability

AmpliTube Metal will have a list price of $249/€199 and will ship within 2007 from IK's online store and its network of authorized dealers and resellers.

I'll have to demo it first of course. I was able to get a good metal sound out of Amplitube 2's demo, but it took me 20 minutes, so I only got to play for 10. My POD XT Live crushes it as soon as I turn it on. :)

You sure that it won't be 399USD (regular, no crossgrade)?
Unless you know something that we don't.

And yup, Line 6 crushes pretty much everything. Except flexibility and CPU usage.

LOL, don't get us started on that or you will see another 350+ thread :)

Here is the promotional sexy chick picture I suggest to IKMM for ATM

The crappy sounds of KvR's most culinarily-named son can be yours. AT2LME.

(notice how with quick reading the word "lame" scans in there?)

I'm sure the quality is all fine and dandy... but only 4 amps with the metal pack? Jeeziz... that's not much value for money. And the StompIO is WAY more expensive than I thought it would be! Add the $99 integrator-thingy and the other exorbitant add-ons (JHE and I'm sure a million forthcoming artist packs)... if there are rich or gullible people out there (and I'm sure there are), IKMM is giving themselves a license to print money! lol

I'm going to say it: The more i use anything else the more i like Guitar Suite. Say whatever; I got dumbells for ears, I play with my feet... Even the GS guy built AT2, I don't care.
Albeit Lunch Money has a point the size of a full blown Marshall stack, i'm waiting on the new thing still.

That price was direct from their website, unless they retract it. :)

As for flexibility and CPU usage... I was referring to my POD XT Live, which uses NO CPU. ;)

Agreed...but somehow I can't help but thinking that the Line6 Gearbox model hasn't inspired this and if so, maybe future editions will be available standalone OR as an add-on usable in X-Gear. I mean, X-Gear is probably more than a wrapper, it's probably an AT2 engine that can load the stomp/amp/cab/rack gear. Or I could be smokin' crack ;-)

In any case, the reasoning is simple...ATJHE has gotten way more accolades in the press and elsewhere than the original. I have to say, not without good reason, IMHO. As I've said, the models in ATJHE just sound better and seem more responsive to me....YMMV.

If I was driving that train I would do the same thing...and my banker would thank me ;-)

A new software shell-host that allows you to open ANY current and future "Powered by AmpliTube" amp and FX system in a single interface (AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™, Ampeg SVX, AmpliTube 2 Live and the new AmpliTube Metal) with full mix and match between all of included models, and live control with the StompIO or MIDI controllers.

.
Last year, I mentioned that IK was fragmenting their product line to increase sales. A few people denied this. In fact, one of them represents the company! Take a look at how many Amplitube products there are...and counting. How many did they start with? One.

Instead of offering a version two that includes all of the modules (i.e. like NI does with GR) and update/upgrading it, they now offer a different "product", which essentially hinges on the very same architecture. FYI: this is what I meant by fragmenting the product base to increase sales.

Is this a good thing, or a bad thing? From a development standpoint, it depends on how they build and roll out the "fragments." The build processes could become difficult (and costly) to maintain. More specifically, they now have to build, maintain, and roll out umpteen versions. From a customer perspective, they have to install a lot of redundant code, not to mention purchasing separate "fragments" and the piece to glue it all together, that you mentioned here. Personally, I'd be interested to see if it's more/less efficient to run multiple amps (i.e. fragments) using this model, as opposed to the all-in-one rack (e.g. GR) that other companies employ.

So, yes, I was correct. (Someone from IK owes me an apology, as they vehemently contested this, and gave me a hard time.) IK has, in fact, broken off their amp line into many different fragments that are sold separately. Have they not?

BTW, I wasn't necessarily knocking it. I was just stating it; it's a fact. (It's marketing 101)

Yeah, I had that in another theard. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... ht=stompio

very expensive indeed.

Squids tells me that these units though are hand build in italy. I am not sure if it was only the first batches, or the production runs as well.

But it is a bit too much for an I/O interface and sound module with no DSP on board.
:?:

I thought that was the big thing about the stomp i/o that is housed all the ik stuff.........
