The limited amount of controls per page is a weak point... 5 pages for OSC's, 4 for filters... welll it's a bit annoying.

Hehe... what about an mgui frontside for SQ80?

Well, the gui still jumps up and down in Tracktion, making it sadly almost unusable. I'm not 100% sure I have the latest version so I just downloaded it again and check.sigikull wrote:Any other problems?

Sorry.. no VST controls. No possibility to control using Mgui.

It wouldbe good to be able to map GUI knobs and selection of parameters page to MIDI controllers. That way ALL synthesis parameters could be controlled from external MIDI controller, making editing as convenient as on hardware synth.

That's true, also with MIDI Learn, it'll be even more convenient.
But for the first hurdle to jump first that needs to be done, this would improve control dramatically.

Hi everyone!
Finally the new SQ8L version 0.9 beta is read for download at
http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/index.html
It's been quite a while since the last update. But I believe it's been
worth the wait because the new version has many improvements.
I hope it's more stable, the new voice management should work far better, the
oscillators are much closer to the original and it's loud now!
Sorry, the GUI hasn't been changed much; I'm saving that for a future update.
As for some of the previous posts:
- MIDI learn is good idea, I'll think about it for future versions.
- I tested SQ8L with Tracktion (Demo version) and it seemed to work fine
(correct me if wrong).
- I like the idea of quick browsing through sound library files without
having to load them first. I'll think about implementing this.
- The sustain pedal should work now.
Have fun!

i'm in love with this synth !
the gui is much nicer now (i hated the keyboard)
What still annoys me : in FLS (at least), i use my pc keyboard to trigger sounds, and as soon as i tweak a knob, it seems the pc keyboard is captured, and is not directed to keys triggering anymore. Would be nice if we could change this.
Also, still no realtime filter changes (while key still down)
thanks so much for this sigikull

Many, many thanks for the update! I used to love this synth... well I still do, actually
. The GUI works the same as the original btw. - it's PITA, but most synths at the time had PITA GUI's and we had to cope with it as you couldn't just write an e-mail to Ensoniq and say: can you add more controls to the UI?
You should try using Korg Wavestation SE... now that's a total PITA UI, used to have one, a million of pages and only a few buttons and a 2x20 characters LCD screen.
Cheers!

Try to map a knob to cc 74 : Brightness, that should do it.easymode wrote:i'm in love with this synth !

Thanks, it indeed works, but its still very annoying (have to create a midi plug in fls, configure channels etc).olepro wrote:Try to map a knob to cc 74 : Brightness, that should do it.easymode wrote:i'm in love with this synth !

WTF??? Where did the Keyboard Go??? I might have to pass on this update?
Why don't just make both a Keyboard Version and a Non-Keyboard Version it would be f**king easy and take a whole 2 Seconds to do?
Shit, I would even make a Decent Keyboard for them.
