Without having gone through the rest of this thread (and i do apologise, i'm just short on time), here are a few of my requests:
-Pressing a letter while the Browser is in focus should go to the first file/folder that starts with that letter. pressing it multiple times should cycle through all files/folders that start with that letter.
-Being able to search only plugins/presets/samples/etc..., instead of all at the same time.
-have 'locate in OS filebrowser' as a rightclick-option, perhaps, where it would open the folder you're highlighting, or in which the highlighted file is?

I really like this one. In fact, it would be really neat to be able to set up more than one with whatever aliases one wants. And to have the ability to save them, load them (globally or linked to a project) and unload them at will.horn wrote:I would like to have a "favourites" option. A section where I can built my own VST or project directory. Maybe more of them depending on the things I want do do. This would just mean that within the browser one could create virtual folders and copy aliases of plugins or projects or xtc's.

Like Ableton Live, would be cool if energyXT could read a folder of shortcuts to plugins and understand where they are. So people could re-organize VSTPlugins without any problem.

Annoyance: If you try to save a project to a filename with no extension, or an extension other than .xt, you get an error message telling you so. In my view, what should happen by default is that the appropriate extension be tacked on at the end of the filename, just as it happens in the Windows file dialog.
Edit:
I see now there has been a discussion of this in
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=182806
however, this is still a source of grief, as the the path to "My Documents" on my system contains a ".", for reasons known only to certain individuals from Redmond, WA.
Another annoyance, a bit indirectly related: when setting up folders for the browser, one should be able to type a path instead of laboriously navigating a gazillion folders deep. If you type a path that does not exist, after a confirmation dialog, the necessary folders should be created. And of course, a "New Folder" button is a must.

Scrolling past the irrelevant folders in the Plugins section is getting annoying.
I may be wrong but I guess this is because the VST folders are not scanned at all by XT2.
Why not have a scan that can be invoked manually (and, optionally, on startup) and use the scanned tree in the Browser.
Or scan the folders when needed ("just in time)
And a "Recent" or "Favourites" folder or both at the top of Plugins would be great.

From a thread I started elsewhere(a FR for the browser):
Now would'nt it also be great if XT2 would do one-click preview of MIDI files, played by whatever synth you have selected? I'm pretty sure it will preview audio clips this way, why not MIDI? You could just scroll through one after another seeing which pattern would work with which beat. Very fast and easy.
P5 has a great feature where you can scroll through pattern files and they'll preview automatically, played by what ever synth you have selected. If a drum loop is going, It kinda jumpstarts musical ideas.

moe- I am very much a fan of that idea! One should be able to preview patterns from any song on his HD too. I think Live was the first to pioneer this but it is becoming standard for pattern based sequencers.

add the possibility to select more files using only the mouse,
not only by pressing ctrl and selecting another file.
not only by pressing ctrl and selecting another file.

Didn't wanted to make a new topic, but - Isn't this an elegant solution:
