Shame that...202s are immense fun to play with. Much more fun than those black boxes you just bought (although the JVs certainly make a wider range of sound).
You should be able to pick up a midi/CV converter pretty cheap. Personally I bought a top of the range Kenton - it has bucketloads of channels, you can control something like 8 synths, sync up a couple of 202s/808s etc and then have spare channels to control other patchable synths. I often use it to control filters etc on an MS20 and even provide velocity control. Quite some useful box of tricks if you're into analogues.

Yeah, those Kenton things sound like fun.
Anyone know if 12mm MDF board is a suitable material to build a desk out of? I want to build a two-tier desk to sit on mykeyboard stand (one of those X type ones with 2 crossbars and a ratchet lock). I was hoping to put my 61 MIDI controller, Korg EMX, JV-1010 and a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer all on there.
Any chance it'll work?

I don't see why not. Although I'd maybe screw in a couple of wooden beams lengthwise underneath just to provide a little bit of extra strength. MDF is reasonably strong stuff but it can break when you start pounding on it (I know from experience...
). Just a couple of lengths of 1" cheapo framing pine or somesuch will add extra strength.
