Hey everyone, been lurking here as usual but all the while been mega busy all summer making TONS of new music, I've got several projects on the go at the moment, and I've just finished the first one just this weekend, so give it a listen and let me know what you think, I'd love to hear all your comments etc. FYI I didn't record the bandor play the instruments or write the ROCK! The recording was done above a dirty little pub in Blackpool and I (seriously) salvaged what I was handed to produce this, also I added in all the synths and samples etc and "Pupilar'd it up" quite a bit

The debut album from Higher Council Of Mars! Dense guitars and tortured screams, certainly for fans of Isis, Jesu, Old Man Gloom and Neurosis. Recorded in Blackpool in July '07 and beaten into shape by Pupilar, who was responsible for all post production, mixing, mastering and contribution of all electronics, drones, samples, synths, noise and general filth.

Also FYI, this was my first full big project done solely in Reaper, which I must say is incredible and totally replacing Cubase SX from here on for me, I'll be paying for a licence as soon as v2.0 goes final.

anyone had chance to listen to any of these tracks yet? I noticed a couple ppl here had downloaded them via looking at my webstats

Man, this is splendid stuff all the way. My only gripe is the vocals take a back seat in the mix that I wish wasn't the case. Aside from that, I'm very, very impressed, bravo!

cheers sickle, yeah, been pushing myself in new directions, HUGELY educational experience, didnt realise how hard it was to get a Bass sound sounding good! I thought the vocals may be slightly contentious, but this was totally my intention to have the vocals more "in the mix" than your usual metal vocal right in your face kinda sound. My biggest influence for mixing was definitely stuff like My Bloody Valentine and alot of the new blackmetal out there, where everything is mixed really close together, really densely. Since the vocals are the usual un-intelligible metal scream, I wanted them to sit right in between the guitars like an instrument and not be focal, the pitch of the vocals oirks well I think for this, I really like how the vocals kinda warp in and out of some of the noise I use in there too, more textural that way. AQnd, for me, its all about them beauty guitar riffs, so wanted the guitars to be the dominant fore here, very inspired by the first Jesu album, really huge and dense sounding!

I'm planning on doing a reconstructed EP of the album before Xmas, obviously since they arent my songs I didnt really feel I could get away with warping and screwing things too much when doing this, but I wanna do a full on f**ked up drone/twisted/harsh/beautiful/dense/black mettalled/nuts version for my own twisted pleasure, really build on some of the electronic passages I added and chop and stutter all the guitar up and just make a big 20-30 minute collage piece from elements on this record, hehe, should be a larf like! make things sound WAY more Pupilar. You can tell with ideas like this that I spent a huge part of my younger years (and still do now tbh) religiously listening to Godflesh can't you

ha, damn straight (well old pitch shifter like desensitized, not the new stuff which is shite) new scorn album due in two weeks, you have NO IDEA how excited I am about that, pure filth!

Dude, I played this for my wife (the resident metal head) and we both love it! Getting a heavy Mastadon vibe here as well as the other bands mentioned. I agree with Sickle, you need to bring those vocals forward!

I love melodic metal and it's not very often that I hear new stuff like this, so I'm looking forward to hearing more. Thanks-a-million for sharing!

def a Mastadon influence in them riffs by the guitarist Ric, I know they're are one of his favourite bands, and we both grew up together worshipping master of puppets etc! Boy likes his metal

Yeah, I still stand behind my choice of level for the vocal's tho, Ive never liked in your face metal vocals when its just screaming, I think its some kind of rock star formula that the "frontman" should always be the focal thing in the band, visually and on record, which I've never gone with. All about blended textures for me. All new wave blackmetal bands like Leviathan and Blut Aud Nord and stuff like that is how I like my metal sounding these days, dense and all mushy and blended together.
