The best sounding/most playable budget sample sets?

Just curious, since I have been building my samples collection a bit lately. But what do you think are the best budget sample sets? I'm talking great quality, easy to play, etc. No specific instruments in mind, but just looking around.
Or even just the best site to find some if you don't want to recommend specific libraries.
Thanks!

I tried the 80 meg demo of the new 3rd party E-mu soundfont libraries, and will have to put a bug in Santas ear, no e-mu dongle needed!
I know they are not sample sets, by strict definition, but Wusik and the Wusik mags and Zebra2 ? There's about 5000 sounds for $400!
A bundle of SonicSynth2, and Sampletank 2.5 is another stupendous collection, maybe a bit more$$$ than the combo mentioned above, but that crazy simple multifx layaout with all those sounds?
I'm getting more sounds I can place in >songs<, by going through the many banks of Oatmeal, Synth1, Voyager, Zynaddsubfx etc patches, than the overwraught whizzbangers sent out with most commercial demos i try.

Thanks for the suggestions. Where do I find the E-mu stuff?
SonicSynth and Sampletank are pretty good, but a bit more than I'm talking. Actually, quite a lot more at this time. And I don't use synths too much so any synths are really out. I'm horrible at programming them and don't even have much need in my music for them, to be honest.
As for Wusikstation, I have pretty much everything that Wusik makes, and it's great.

m-audio key rig - doubtless
also - check out rolands cheapie gm collection (virtual canvas or whatever it's called). It's got like 800 sounds for around 40 bucks or something like that. Can't go wrong there.
don't forget emu's proteus x and the different collections you can plug into it.

Well, I have the Roland stuff in Sonar. And that stuff is actually that plugin upgraded, IIRC. But I'll check out the key rig out of curiosity.

While not putting this forward as "best" anything, I did want to make sure everyone noticed I had put out a free Roland RS-202 string synth multisample set. I'll be expanding it over time, right now it's just one of the string settings run through one of the chorus settings. Kontakt 2 format insturment, plus samples available at my original thread:

And various other formats (soundfont, VSampler 3, WUSIK, EVE 2 presets, and Crystal presets) available courtesy of Kara here:

Depending on what you're after, give http://www.samplesquad.com a try, great sounding small sample collections, mainly drums. Bought all of them some time ago.

There is also http://www.gigfiles.com where you can download a lot of sounds for free, and get all the library for like $89

These guys have some nice, affordable stuff. I bought their Autoharp and Dulcimer sets, dirt cheap, sound great.

You can also try www.prokits.co.uk, there's a variety of stuff there, each sound has a demo and the prices are a few pounds per sound. Shameless promotion here: I'm one of their designers, and my sounds are all carefully programmed for superior playability (e.g., multiple round-robin samples, mutiple velocity samples, usually the mod-wheel and/or key pressure does something useful), so check them out (engineer: Michael Bietenholz). I don't like static

Anything by Pettinhouse or Precisionsound. EastWest are flogging their old Giga collections off dirt cheap too... I got EWQL Rare Instruments for $40 I think it was...

Wow, some great suggestions there. I'll be busy all day! I have heard of a few, and free sites like Kara-Moon and others have become some of my favorite free sites. I've bought from Pro Kits before(good stuff). So I'll be "rechecking" those out, and going through the rest.
Thanks again guys!

If you haven't considered it before, the MTron is a unique collection. Definitely a "grainy" type set, but that's what is great about it. It can be a very unique "pad" synth when you start shaving off the attack of some of the orchestral instruments. There's just something about it that I love for secondary lines and supporting parts.
It says $129, but I think I got it for $99 somewhere (probably GC) ...
