i can't really see the point of making the gui bigger if there aren't more controls shown on a page ?
i'm running a 1600*1200 resolution on a 19inch crt and the original xhip's size is fine by me (i have good eyes though...)

i can try another version with more controls packed in, but you've seen what having all controls on one page looks like. for it to look good we'll have to wait for gsoto's gui, or something else with an intelligent arrangement.

The size increase is a good move! The GUI is still smaller than many other top of the line synths, and is a great help to anyone with bad eyesight.
But I do find it impossible to keep up with all the changes. One minute the presets work, change the version and the presets won't load anymore!
There does not seem to be any order to the progress of this synth. Just my opinion!

i think it's a nice improvement. well, i should since i requested itaciddose wrote:feel free to comment on whether or not that is the way you like it since it has just taken me about ten minutes to do. the only part that wasnt modularized was the tabs for the pagebox control. i should modularize those and then clean up the whole code so that the size can be set with a single "scale" value.
the gui in adsx1.dll for example already supports that - a variable called 'dpi' of course sets the scale of the whole thing. controls are centered on a 1.5 inch grid.
good size though. not to small. not too big. unless anyone prefers the smaller gui, i think you should keep it bigger like this until gsoto's gui is finished.
also, sorry to ask such an elementary question, but what exactly is the "staircase" wave you can choose in the oscillators section?

it's a sample&hold of noise triggered at 4x the root frequency. that produces harmonics which sound like they have a root frequency matching the frequency of the oscillator - so you get pitched noise. should be called 'noise' i guess.

that was only an experimental feature and it wasnt particularly stable. even using the triangle wave combined with sync can still cause crashes
it might be something to add in xhip v2, but i need to keep the feature set as it is for now.

I have 1 problem in sonar 6.2.1 and that is hung notes when you have created a sequence in Sonar and hit the stop button while xhip is playing a note.
hope you can look into it

sonar sends invalid event packets. you can route the midi messages through a plugin to correct them, energyxt will work for example. older versions of some other hosts have the same problem. you could also upgrade your host or contact the vendor for a fix.

Yup Oatmeal is very buggy in Sonar, but that will be solved soon (Thanks to William)cheul wrote:Holy cow that might be the answer to my problem with Oatmeal... wait I had the same problem in energyxt aciddose...
I can't recall that i had this hung notes in earlier versions of Xhip (Going to try some older versions for testing).
