without being a drag to squids, I am very interested (if possible to know) about that phase 90 emu.........it's easily the most sought-after phase sound and the 100 (which I used to have btw) is more......shall I say.....unique?redshift factor wrote:That's pretty awesome. But one more question...
Can X-GEAR rearrange stompboxes on the fly with drag and drop?
That's the one thing that Amplitube products are sorely missing which all the other major ampsims have (Waves Stomp, Guitar Rig, ReValver). Even Steinberg has finally introduced insert drag and drop with Cubase 4.
And what about getting the MXR Phase 90 (Eddie Van Halen's signature effect) into AT Metal? IKMM already modeled it for Amplitube 2 as shown in early beta screenshots, but then never included it.

StompIO looks pretty cool except that the 48kHz samplerate limit on the A/D is pretty much a deal breaker for me. Even onboard audio on new motherboards is 192kHz these days. At the very least they could have give us 96kHz. That's the baseline standard for proaudio.

Yes, of course I get where you guys are coming from. I've been on KVR for over 6 years! Haha. I knew it would be out of some people's price range. Believe me I have been suggesting a cheaper version too but IK has pride in quality and innovation. Updates are pretty big (think from AT1 to AT2... much bigger jump of features than you see from other devs). Anyone can cut corners and save money but there's also an art and appreciation when you don't cut corners. In fact, to be honest, I am getting to the point myself where I am willing to pay MORE for quality. The excitement over "wow look how cheap!" dies down when you see it break... I have a pile of cheap gear from one of the biggest mass production companies in the market (won't say who) and it's all falling apart... kind of depressing! But, my Yamaha Motif sits solidly in the center of my studio working as great as ever. That too is a tank and costs some bucks but you get what you pay for! Quality crafstmanship should not be underestimated.
I think we're so used to software prices here that hardware freaks us out a little (I say "us" but I mean those that are younger and newer to music gear than someone like me who used to spend a fortune in hardware).
Regarding the phase 90, I am not sure what's up there but I want a model of the script 90 myself. The Eddie one is a good one too. There are sooooo many pedals to model. This is just scratching the surface and there are a bunch in my collection that have yet to be modeled but I hope they will some day. I guess it depends just much X-Gear catches on. It SHOULD but it all depends (ironically on people like yourselves... but also a majority of people that are not on KVR in reality). Anyway, if it is a big hit then I can justify nagging them to model all of my coloursound pedals, my ADA Flanger is pretty cool, Mutron Bi-Phase... man, there are really a lot of cool pedals to still model. You guys are helping me get my whole stomp collection modeled... hey, you benefit too! At least you didn't have to go out and find this stuff and spend the big bucks like I did. I've paid as much as $500 for one pedal (that's kind of my limit, hence not owning a Univibe before... I had the Rotovibe though which I used when I played with Kevin Gilbert along with my Vox Wah).

Eddie of course didn't use an EVH Phase 90 on classic VH.
I'm pretty sure he used the "script" Phase 90. Anyways, IKMM just needs to include whichever Phase 90 they had already modeled for AT2 originally. I just like to remind everyone of Eddie Van Halen's Phase 90 because it's a pretty strong justification for why it should be included now in AT Metal. IKMM just can't argue with that.

Phase 90 originally modeled ^ for Amplitube 2, but never included in the final build

@squids
I sure hope you know how much we appreciate chiming in. I think ik's support is good.....but It seems as though you (though not directly linked) are more accessible /inside the loop
@phase 90
agreed, agreed, and (I think) agreed...........

BTW, the EVH Phase 90 actually has a switch that toggles between the "script logo" Phase 90 sound and the modern "block logo" sound. So it gives you "The Best of Both Worlds".
Anyways, requesting that IKMM finally include something they've already modeled but never publicly released is quite a different proposition than requesting new stuff they haven't yet done the work for, and I don't think it's asking too much considering how pertinent it would be to this particular collection.
How can anyone listen to "Ain't Talkin Bout Love" and not think that AT Metal demands the Phase 90?
This is why you need to make them include it, Squids!

Hey!!! I "leave" for a couple of days and this thread is already 12 pages long...LOL...something about Amplitube man and guitarists on KVR
Hourray for the news about the X-Gear's free introductory offer for AT2 owners!
I still think though that it is a faux pas to be charging for the MIDI abilities of the X-Gear. AT2 should have had that straight out of the box! People might be willing to pay for the chaining, mixing and mingling part of AXG, but for MIDI, i think this is unfair towards users who do not get the chance to get AXG for free.

LOL, well how the heck did you guys expected it to work as?beergeek wrote:Ah sweet...so X-Gear does work as we had hoped
The description was pretty clear on what the AXG was supposed to do.

Thanks. I am more in the loop than the tech support guys because they find out the information after it is out. I am poking around during development and offering suggestions even though it is not my area (my area is REALLY providing SampleTank sounds for IK which is where I actually make money, I don't get any kind of royalty for lending my pedals but... I DO get the model of my pedal to use which is great for me!). Anyway, I push the envelope on what is allowed to be said because I know where the line is not to cross it and if I don't I get clearance because we've proven that this sort of communication, which is more my style than anything, is beneficial. I am sure an actual IK rep could come in here too but on KVR since I am here anyway for the SR forum... why not talk about virtual gear? I enjoy it actually because I've helped others understand it better and also helped communicate back to other companies what users want.hibidy wrote:@squids

But whoever buys AT2 has the chance to get it for free. As far is it coming from the beginning, the Stomp IO software had to be developed first in order to have X-Gear for AT2 users AND the full Stomp IO version. It's hard to criticize how a company has to develop something, what order etc. We all think about what would be ideal, that's easy. But it took what it took to do it and AT2 users should be happy that X-Gear will be free for a limited time to them (and anyone else can get it or the crossgrade to pick it up free too). Nothing unfair about that at all.A3ntar wrote:Hey!!! I "leave" for a couple of days and this thread is already 12 pages long...LOL...something about Amplitube man and guitarists on KVR

There are certainly some "iffy" business practices going on in the IKMM camp. There's no way you can say "nothing unfair at all" given all the shattered perceptions and bruised feelings just in this thread alone.
As for the long development cycle, they should have learned from past products such as... oh... let's say... Sampletank2. If they weren't going to be able to deliver for 2 years, they should have held off on the announcement. But they wanted to announce it so that people would be interested in AT2 as a potential live rig, and then buy the AT2 software even without the IO. They succeeded. But they did NOT include the MIDI functionality that would have been needed for those musicians who might have opted for other boards during the wait.
So... in some people's experience... IKMM may have crossed the line with this set of releases and this approach; ie. have done "something" wrong.
As for the StompIO itself... are you telling me that everything inside that chassis is hand-soldered and hand-assembled? If so, they've missed an opportunity. Nobody--NOBODY--wants a "boutique" floorboard. And that's what you seem to be pitching it as. It's a computer of sorts, featuring mass-marketed chips and the same converters found in other units. IKMM doesn't have a chip-manufacturing facility. No doubt, the circuit boards are also set up to be mass-manufactured. The rock-solid chassis (if that's the situation) isn't unique in this world... lots of people make solid gear without charging a premium.
You can wrap it up in steel and that still doesn't justify the cost...!
Besides, as Sascha has pointed out a few times, you can have the sturdiest rig in the world and it still comes back to its weakest point-- a standard USB connector.

Not to talk about the people who bougth AT2 because they were promised a dedicated controller. It cames out 2 and 1\2 years... with a ridicule price tag and borderline marketing strategy.
I'm tired of this. Anyone for a license of AT2 and some more IK software send a PM.
Thanks.
