Fellow guitar players, I just wanted to let you know
that my search for Amp Sims is over.
I found the holly grail, the one the makes all my dreams a reality and more!

I'm 100% satisfied, I don't even look at any other gear/software anymore... there is no point, the game is over.

I wanted to share this with all you players.
I will not debate anything with anybody, I just want you all to know that the magic box is out there.

It's called AXE-FX:

A better place to dive into this and hear user demos is:

Here are a few samples I recorded, just for fun, they do not represent anything, just my "playing around" with this box:

I tried to simulate "double tracking"

Hey AS!
I'm 100% satisfied, I don't even look at any other gear/software anymore...
Your post look like an infomercial man, are you getting some rebate off of those Axe-Fx units? ;)

I thought that you had the Axe-Fx unit for a while now, how come you decided to post about it just now?

I know that Andrew was pretty found of Amplitube 2 and he managed to get decent sounds from it. In fact one of my favorite presets is from Andrew.

I would like to hear how in his opinon, AT2 compares to Axe-Fx.

as I see it there is no reason to compare it to AT2 or any other soft sim...this is hardware which already starts out with huge benefits imo...I don't like soft sims as much because of latency issues, that makes them really only useful for me as re-amping tools (please note I said for me). I feel very strongly about my amp solutions providing their own processing power and not relying on the computer...so it beats AT2 hands down for me...but this news comes at a bad time for me...

Yeah, I couldn't get it to install either...plus it's $1,749.95 and with the 2RU sized dongle and all. Hmmm...I don't know....does it sound like a 303, or a Virus? :hihi:

I hope nothing too serious Hink.

I asked the question, tone wise, regardless if it is software or hardware ultimatly they both are used for the same puprose.

If we forgo all the xtras (hardware vs software/price/etc...), how does the tone compare.

I remember Andrew asking that same question in the Axe-FX forums a while back. I would interrested in getting his opinion now that he has the unit.

It loaded just fine on my shiny new Babya Logic 3

I value Andrew's opinion, cause I know he's tried many different modelers and he knows his stuff. Some very knowledgeable folks are raving about the Axe-Fx.

But I have to say, the clips I've heard are not inspiring and I've listened to a bunch. Some are quite good (including Andrew's), but not inspiring (no offense to Andrew, whose a very good player).

I've heard clips of several other modelers that are much more inspiring and interesting... tone-wise. I realize that a lot of tone comes from the talent and ear of the guitar player. But I'm still waiting for some clips that convince me this thing is head and shoulders above other modelers.

yeah - but why should I buy a real tube-amp for the money if I can have a hardware amp-sim as well for it? :hihi:

No pointless, vitriolic debate? You're not welcome here. I am open to pointless, vitriolic debate on that, though. Open to the debate, that is; not on changing my mind about it.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

because tubes are only cool when the amp is shut off
