actually, it was only the limitation of AlphaCM's browser to handle more then 128
presets under wineasio. i feel so stupid. only thing i had to do is to remove 1 ^%$%$ preset
from the @#$@# presets folder.':oops:'

Post

ahhhh, sucky limitation....maybe i'll try and contact some devs on it :)

First, thank you for this howto, i had eXT2 running really quickly. Only that it was unusable because it missed the menu font and therefore had an undecipherable tiny font was used instead.
The wine package doesn't say so but it depends on the msttcorefonts package which is in the debian (etch) repository but it's a third-party download from microsoft and therefore it's not included as a dependency. Please add msttcorefonts to the download command!

Hi again

I have just compiled the 0.7.1 version of Wineasio and uploaded it to my site :
http://www.sandgreen.dk/xt2/files/winea ... sio.dll.so
(compiled on my UbuntuStudio 7.04)

If you'd like to compile your own, or follow the development, this is where I found the source :

Your file didn't work for me. Different system though, I went ahead and got the asio headers and compiled it and it worked just fine.

I am getting no connection to 0.7.1 wineasio, and "Driver is not active" when I click Advanced in the XT2 setup. Similarly in FLStudio I get "At least 2 ASIO outputs are needed". Without a wineasiocfg file (either in HOME or /etc/default) it should be defaulting to 2 inputs and 2 outputs (per the source code). No idea what's bugging it. Wineasio 0.3 works ok, but not 0.5 + , and 0.5 was when it started using the config file, so I suspect that. I put wineasiocfg into /etc/default with two lines
ASIO_INPUTS=2
ASIO_OUTPUTS=2
but still no go. Will probably just continue using 0.3 but maybe someone has other advice.

best bet is to try jacklab forums for good advice or alternatively use irc on FREENODE and channel #jacklab :) i havent even been close to my linux station lately ( i will soon as im out for holiday now) so i wont be of much help anyway.

Apparently there is a bug (which I fixed and it's working now) but I'll see what the wineasio author(s) do with it. If I'm right, look for 0.7.1+

Hey Peeps :)

Found this site...

http://people.jacklab.net/metasymbol/software/

The updated libaam.so is well worth connecting. It has "8 alsaseq in, 8 JACK in and 8 JACK out".
Testing it now and its rock solid with the 19ths beta. Its guys like this that make the net so cool :D

This looks promising too...

I've been testing out using jack and I've found these useful plug ins...

Soundforge replacement: Rezound

You can patch this between your audio cards in and XT's in. I don't record live but I do use it to edit sounds routed through to the track its going on. In this respect its more useful than SoundForge (4.5) to me. The amount of things you can do with sound in this program is insane when you install the plugins. You can install this from the "Package Manager" in Ubuntu.

Z3ta+ replacepment: ZynAddSubFX

I've never used Z3ta+ but from the tools available and how its done its roughly equivalent. It isn't pretty but the peeps listening to your music wont know :P Sounds so good I almost considered not posting this lol Same installation as above.

ReCycle replacement: Freecycle

The description of this has all the features of Recycle and more. The bad news is that I cant get this to work with Ubuntu so far. If anyone has cracked this one please let me know how please :)
I personally use a "pay-for" version of wine, crossover office for all my wineasio stuff (except when i need to debug and figure out if i need a .dll etc.) but newest version of wine is so close to crossover its great :)
Crossover has directx implemented which will make a difference in apps like Cakewalk. The question I have is how did you get wineasio working in cxoffice? How do I regsrvr32 it so that it is recognized in a specific or all bottles.

BTW Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 wave driver profiler cited a 56mx latency with alsa and 4-5x a much with a oss2jack bridged device. I would love to see the results with wineasio, better or worse than bare alsa.
