I stand by at least most of my statements, but if people are going to take things out of context all the time......oh............nevermind

Look, for the final time I'M SORRY, I MEAN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :clown:
bitchin', now let's go back to actually discussing the product at hand
so what

So you think YOU'RE bad ;)

In honor of this thread I made a very funny mp3- or, rather, you can experience deep hurting listening to mp3s AND comparing the original poster's idea of a great amp sim with MY idea of a great amp sim.

Download this- http://www.airwindows.com/temp/scarybad-LilAmp-demo.mp3

Load it up in something (I'm using MoviePlayer) and turn the level down slightly (like 7-8 out of 10)

Load it up at the same time as you load Andrew's jam- http://www.andras-shimon.com/TEMP/FX304.mp3

Play them both at the same time, and tremble :D

Trust me, I might not be helped that much by synchronization  so we make two points:

One, Andrew is comparatively pretty good

Two, my LilAmp plugin (which is producing the tone you hear out of a DI input guitar) gets a nice tone that's not too 'plugin-y' :) Note that ALL the tonal changes are produced solely by playing dynamics. Also note that LilAmp is $60.

I'm going to regret this, but it was just too much fun. Xenochrony lives!

My name should be coming up on the Ultra waiting list, oh, any day now. I declined a regular unit a few weeks ago in order to wait for the Ultra, and I got on both lists at the same time. I'll decide at that point, but I'll most likely get it.

I want to sincerely apologize to AndrewSimon

It was not supposed to be a knock on his playing, I don't even know if I am any better. The point I was making was not supposed to be a knock on him and I BLEW IT!

No matter how many times I DO try and state my case, I seem to not be able to so again, I am really really really sorry and unfortunately, it will probably not be the last time I have to :(

Hey, take it easy- I was trying to bring a little comic relief, besides which I don't really HAVE impressive guitar playing anywhere to show people. We are all stuck doing our own things and there's always going to be somebody to think it's terrible. It's like criticising Tom Waits' pitch or something. As long as the music is what YOU MEANT to do, it's more a matter of finding who likes it.

I actually liked my silly xenochrony experiment enough to leave it playing on loop (ever-changing xenochronical superimpositions) for maybe ten minutes before I quickly shut it off again :)

Please trust me when I tell you my post had NOTHING to do with yours and it just a very sincere apology to andrewsimon

I know one thing for sure:

technically Andrew Simon is a MUCH better guitar player than me - and I won't even discuss this. :hihi:

I'm just glad the topic got me going on my other amp project. It's still in development but it's BigAmp. There's a 24 bit aiff here.

Just to make one thing clear. When I said that Andrew's post sounded like a commercial, I was completly kidding (hence the wink at the end of the statement).

I have a tremendous respect for Andrew's judgment as a guitar player, for his guitar playing skills and his tone.

hibidy, even though the tones sounded not to your liking, there was no reason to attack Andrew's abilities. Like LM said, Andrew is the most level headed person on KvR and one heck of a guitar player if you ask me.

Maybe a little more patience next time before flaming? :)

RVMKII is extremly good for distortion, better than anything else on the market IMHO, but is still a bit weak in the cleans department. AT2 is exactly the opposite. AT2JHE is another very good distortion/ high gain ampsim.
I've found RVMKII great for cleans, all a matter of taste at the end of the day.

For distortion, I tend to use Nick Crow's wagner, along with the Kitty.

sure, but still it was a arrogant thing to say you are not even going to debate it with someone :?
Don't even try, he's a douche........he just reads what he wants to read and it makes him think he's smart
dude grow up...I never called you names, I just pointed out your words were unkind....apparently you ageed because you apologized. So now you attack me

Let me make one thing clear...you cannot insult me
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I also find RVmk2 great for cleans. The secret is to completely ignore all the 'clean' presets. ;) Start off with just one amp and maybe (in my case at least) the noise suppressor. Both the Vox and the Bassman models have great clean sounds.

Personally I ignore all the presets.

+1
I have never found a preset on any piece of guitar equipment that has worked for me...ever!! No matter how good it sounds on the demo clip, it never works the same except maybe if you have a nearly identical guitar, playing style, etc.
