Also, as a general rule you can't expect to load up a single instance of anything and get an amazing guitar sound. For instance, with amplitube 2 you get a mono output, so to get that phat double tracked effect, you're gonna need two instances... and this will rapidly change your tone. You may find that you have too much gain once you double track a riff - for instance.

I love modeler discussions. :D Back on topic…

Let me say again that I have great respect for Andrew's opinion and his decision to purchase the Axe-Fx. I have no doubt that it will be great. But I personally have a couple of issues with spending anywhere from $1,350 to $2,000 for this modeler.

1) My understanding is this is basically a one man shop.

- He designs and builds the hardware (which is admittedly top notch)
- He designs and codes the amp sims
- He designs and codes the effects
- He runs the business and has all the headaches associated with that

That's very ambitious and A LOT of hats for someone to wear. Something most likely will suffer. Say what you want about Line 6, but I'm sure they have teams of sound designers, hardware, software, and business and marketing folks. They have the resources to develop something as involved as 'do-it-all-in-one-box' modeler.

2) My other issue is that I have a little trouble investing in expensive and proprietary digital hardware that may be only worth 60% or 1/2 it's value in 5 years.

I would over look all the stuff above and buy it if I heard some clips that blew my mind, but that has not happened yet. YMMV.

Debates? Maybe they're not using Dubly.

BTW, Cap'n Spanky, your words are clipping on my monitor. Can we get some kind of text limiter or something?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I found the holly grail, the one the makes all my dreams a reality and more!

I'm 100% satisfied, I don't even look at any other gear/software anymore... there is no point, the game is over.

I wanted to share this with all you players.
I will not debate anything with anybody, I just want you all to know that the magic box is out there.

It's called AXE-FX:

A better place to dive into this and hear user demos is:

Here are a few samples I recorded, just for fun, they do not represent anything, just my "playing around" with this box:

I tried to simulate "double tracking"

An attempt at warm "Carlton" style tone:

Just 1 guitar played live + some FX magic:

Some clean tones:

Based on 8" Tweed + a Strat, boosted into something more:

1700 bucks ...i mean.. why not ;-)...

Post

Yeah, cool.

This thingy sounds nearly as good as Revalver on clean sounds. The disto sounds are below Revalver. 1700 dollars? No brainer.

You could always buy 28 copies of 'LilAmp' for that, and pretend they are 28 different sounds :P

Don't even try, he's a douche........he just reads what he wants to read and it makes him think he's smart

You can have Roland VG-99 for less or GT-Pro for just of fraction. But a new entry is always welcome - AXE-FX reminds me somewhat of Chameleon. Unfortunately it just sold out all units and then company closed... :(

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

AXE-FX clip from riffy:

http://members.cox.net/rockguitar/AC01.MP3
I have 1 track of 1961 AC15 twin here... That is 2-10 inch blues
in it. I have one track of Axe-FX. For speakers on the Axe-FX, I
used 1 blue and 1 gold 10 speakers in the sim.
What side is the real amp? ... can you tell?
