It comes with AT2. Great! What about people who already have this 310€ worthy piece of software? Do we are entitled of getting stomp i\o for 560€?
In my case i own more pieces of the AT2 series, but let's focus on the previous question alone, please.
It has been from the begin my only concern.

Thank you.

stag, as I read the posts if you already have AT2, you can then only buy it with AT-Metal ... so far no offers of only stomp i/o ...

However, I won't be surprised if, after a healthy dosis of "nagging" by AT2 users IK might suddenly offer stomp i/o seperately as an "update" ... ;-)

I'm sure there'll be an AT-free StompIO package down the line, but in any event you can use your 2nd AT2 license to crossgrade to AT Metal or whatever. Or maybe you can crossgrade from your current AT2 to the StompIO package. I don't know how this crossgrade thing works.
Or you could sell+transfer your duplicate AT license. Either way, I'm sure they've thought of these things, the info that's out there now is just the AES press release and not the final product launch info.

Copied from the IK-store order-page:
PRE ORDER NOW! Free shipping for pre-orders only. Includes AmpliTube X-GEAR & Expression Pedal
Oh cool! Hmmm. I have to see if that's the case with dealers or just direct... well, I'll tell you what, on esoundz we'll match it even if we have to buy the expression pedal for you. This is just for pre-orders though. So, you get the $199 value of RAW UGK or $100 in epointz you can use for whatever you want as a bonus plus the pedal plus if you own AT2 or Ampeg you get AT Metal for free.

By the way, yes that is correct that the answer to "what if I already own AT2 or Ampeg or JH or all three?" the answer is that you get AT Metal for free. It's not as easy to give you the low "crossgrade price" on a hardware box when the manufacturing cost of it alone is a significant part of the price tag. There's less room for discounts in it than any other IK product and this extends through distributors and dealers too (in other words, the margin is lower in order to have it at THIS price so you can imagine, if you even know what I am talking about, that the price could have been a lot HIGHER - and would have to have been to accomodate crossgrade discounting like IK normally does... but in this case you get added value instead so the cost could be kept down... yes that's RIGHT! AT $1,049. the costs were kept DOWN to be that LOW. I am totally serious. It's made in Italy, not China in droves. (China drove? Doobies? :D ).

I rest my case then... It's not fair doe. :bang:
People who waited so long for this to complement their rig, now have to cope with a different kind of deal than they supposed it was going to be.

The not Made in China, it's a plus, not because i think that chinese don't know how to work: Displacement and some working conditions over there are unfair.

Well, the craftsmanship and quality (not to mention final cost) is different. That's what I was referring to. It's like getting a Strat from China or Mexico vs. from America.

As far as what people were supposing it was going to be... you can't account for people's imagination. It's not like anyone said it was going to be cheap. However, since you guys are on the forum here and I've been around I knew it was in this price range and while I couldn't tell you (well, didn't know) the final price when asked what sort of price to expect I DID say it would be more in the Digi002 price range. That means around a grand. But anyway... I don't think it is a matter of fairness. It is simply a price that some people are comfortable with and some are not. That's to be expected. It happens all the time! In fact, there's quite a lot of high quality gear that costs some dough... maybe more than we'd like. That Arturia Analog Factory looks really cool. But it sure ain't cheap! That's for sure.

Now if this isn't the words of someone who is high then I don't know what is...

Also, I like to call my Continuum a Fretless Keyboard. That should fit right in there in the psyche.

And to give you an idea what that means, here's what the tiny new Fiat 500 looked like in the euro-ncap crash test (it received 5/5 stars):

And here's how the Chinese-built Brilliance BS6, twice as big as the Fiat, fared in the same test (1/5 stars):

And here is the obligatory Youtube video that goes with it

I think the test was done at 40MPH

It is almost amazing that the wheels didn't roll off before that thing hit the wall!!

That is just horrible. The cynicism of letting people drive around in such death traps...

Oh, and the Fiat 500 is actually manufactured in Poland. I thought it would be unfair to the Chinese to compare with Ferraris that are made outside Modena just around the corner from IK Multimedia...

Yes, although it doesn't mean that products made in China are necessarily inferior. They are more mass produced and a way companies cut corners on costs. I own a lot of equipment that was made in China. But, if you want something that was made somewhere else with more detailed craftsmanship perhaps or other qualities then it tends to cost more. This is nothing new.

The physical manufacturing cost of the Stomp IO is a huge part of its price. If there was a way for it to cost less to produce and still be the same quality then it could have been cheaper.

Yeah, and it is coming to the USA next year!! Hourrrrray!!

Just for the sake of comparison.

Here is a McLaren F1 at the same speed (40 MPH).

And the car could be driven afterwards!!

By the way, I have been to the Ferrari factory! It's really cool. Also, right down the street from IK in Italy is Maserati. So, if anyone wants to talk about high prices... This is nothing!
