Thought i'd start a thread that lists good vocal sample sites that are royalty free.I know there are a lot of sites with sample sites out there with vocals like sampleswap but i don't know whats free to use or tsken from some obsure movie!

So i've been looking around for good royalty free vocal samples. checked this site out yesterday and you can buy $10 worth of credits which you can get 10 downloads and there are some good samples.If you need good vocal lines for you songs it's worth checking out,theres a lot of samples on there so you might have to go through pages to find what your looking for

It's a good site imo and it accepts paypal

So know of any other sites like this?I know there's a few but which are the better ones that you've come across?The main thing is that you can use em legally in your music

Not directly on point, but I think there is a market for a high quality (multi) sample libary of Rock/R&B female back up singers.

Thanks zvon they look great i'll be checking them out. If anyone does their own vocal samples post those as well if you like

I agree. I have used http://www.vocalsonly.com and it has been great fun to add vocals to an otherwise instrumental track. Not being a good singer myself I do find it frustrating that I have songs that just lack vocals and without them sound empty. You can of course find services where you send the lyrics and the melody for around $50-100 they will create the vocals for you. I was looking at this only the other day and there are a few sites that have this service freely available (but not as in cost unfortunately). It seems like a good business idea where session singers can make a little cash. Obviously the copyright restrictions are the biggest problem but for ametures/hobbyists I would like to see more of these kind of sites available. Record good quality vocals from session singers and resell the tracks many times for a reasonable price. Not for the purposes of creating a number one song, but to hone the skills and practicing vocal arrangement/mixing etc.

The other side of the coin is that starting with vocals can be a tremendous inspiration for the song. I like to build songs around the vocals and not just put the vocals in at the end. The site I mention at the beginning is good for this purpose as they cost very little but are great for practicing skills. Unfortunately the catalog is very dance orientated and thus a little limited in the use if you wish to use them outside the dance music genre. Maybe a few rock or R'n'B tracks would be nice.

I didn't know sites like this existed but it's exactly the kind of thing i need as like you said,vocals can bring a lot of inspiration and can give non singers(like me)a means to finish their tracks without having to hire a session singer

About everything i've written needs vocals so this is perfect,and i can do it legally and without copyright issues.Thanks for posting this
