Hi guys,
I am a big fan of Deadmau5 and think that he makes really strong club bass line. Now I am learning Ableton Live, so can somebody tell me how to make such bass line.
For these who havent heard him, here is a sample:

Come on guys,
please help.
Nobody listened to Deadmau5 or just refuse to give me a hint.
By the way 16 people have downloaded the sample, so there is an acting but with no result.

All I could hear bassline-wise on my laptop speakers was two notes the same which could be created by using any 2 osc VA vsti and picking a bass preset thats close and tweaking the filter and envelopes to suit - I'll try and listen on proper speakers later incase it was more complex and subby and I couldn't hear it correctly.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....

Sounds like a filtered square wave. Not sure you'd even need 2 oscs. Yup, just about any VA VSTi could do this.

That bassline would be easy to make. What makes Deadmau5 so good imo is the mixes all this stuff together to make it ultra funky. Killer production too.

Ok my fiend, but what exactly is the purpose of this 'OnePingOnly' device? How does it works?stilaktive wrote:hes caught us guys, I guess will have to let him in to the biggest secret every electro house producer uses:

Basically, whenever someone asks for advice on how to make a sound, there's always at least one fuckwit who provides a link for a completely useless synth called Onepingonly.prikumov wrote:Ok my fiend, but what exactly is the purpose of this 'OnePingOnly' device? How does it works?
Basically, you're the butt of stilaktive's pathetic attempt at humour.
This joke really isn't funny anymore, and it never actually was in the first place.
You'd think people would have better uses for their time then recycling the same tired old gag a million times.
PS: There's tonnes of synths that can make the sound your after. Personally i'd suggest trying the demo of Rob Papen's Blue, there's some really nice bass presets there, if you tweak the filter you'll come close.

Although I'm not an electrohouse guy, I'm too a huge fan of Deadmau5/BSOD's productions. I think their kicks are in a league of their own and I spend embarrassingly much time trying to figure out how they are put together.
It could be as easy as they just use different samples than me but I suspect there are some tricksy stuff going on as well. So I'm still pretty clueless but I have noticed they usually leave pretty much headroom in the kick's sub. Which often is in the rootnote note of the tune, like 49 Hz for G. This leaves more options for the baseline so it can be really deep and strong on the kicks as well.
Hope that is of any help.

Deadmau5 uses hardware for synths: Moog Lil Phatty, Moog Voyager, and Virus TI. There is a video on youtube.
