Hey there,
I bought an Alesis ControlPad a while ago, and it's time to get a pedal. But I don't know what to get; there's nothing in the manual, and Alesis technical support dept don't seem to reply to emails (charming....).
I just read a review of the ControlPad in Computer Music, which said "any momentary" switch type pedal would work, but I'm not sure what that means.
I've found two likely candidates: does anybody know if these will do the job?

The Zoom looks like it would be easier to use.

Both the Boss and Zoom pedals should work. "Momentary switches" are generic switches like used as hold/sustain pedals on keyboards. They make a simple electrical contact between tip and sleeve when pressed.
NB: this is a good option for controlling open/closed hihat. But the base drum will not be velocity sensitive me thinks... Can be dealt with by getting an electronic base pedal trigger

You're right about the velocity. In fact, the CM review said that all midi velocities were entered as 64 (rather than 127), which they found strange for some reason.

How did you find the Alesis Control Pad with the pedals?
I was using Casio sustain pedals before, but they quickly fell apart and spoiled my bass-drum response. Using a generic brand now, and more satisfied.
However, have you found a way to utilise the hi-hat pedal (foot-switch) to open and close the hi-hats?
I can't get the Open-Hats feeling with GM drums or Toontrack EZ Drummer (stays on closed hats). The included BFD Lite almost works, but the sounds are too awful to use - and I don't want to pay the same again to upgrade when I already have EZ Drummer and little hard-disk space remaining.
Am I the only one with this problem?
