I'm really trying to see if, being that Monome is making more monome kits and it's open source hardware and I've seen that used to add a theremin-like controller into the mix, I can make some sort of Frankenstein's monster sort of "pile of sensors" OSC/Midi controller.

Monome buttons, theremin-distance sensor, foot-pad w/4 corner sensors for pressure/3D directional expression, ribbon with velocity and aftertouch controller monster. This will never happen, but it bears researching before attempting.

Thanks for the link. My interest in their CV things is definitely not for analog synthesis. Like anyone else I like hardware instruments, but I'd certainly not pay extra to lose infinite choice and control and recallability and... well, the revolution is long since over as far as I'm concerned. Though I do miss my reeds :(

What camera are you using? I used a small Panasonic miniDV jobby last june but got all kinds of ground loops (which were nice and noisy but not what I was looking for). Could be faulty wiring at the place though.
A friend of mine has an old VHS one she doesn't use anymore though.

Secret tip (well, not so secret anymore, I suppose): use the resulting ringing sound as modulator for MDA's vocoder, and then mess around with PulseComb to create modulating sounds.

sony handycam.
it is a little noisy but i found moving around to get clearer signals when away from other electrical equipment, especially the tv...
i do enjoy the sweeps you get from zooming in and out though :hyper:
for vhs you can even use an old player and have hours of fun playing films, id imagine a dvd player would be similar.
nightvision just makes everything squeal
