How much more special are the Kontakt 2 versions over older formats like Soundfont? I have a copy of K2 sitting on my shelf waiting for me to upgrade my computer (which is at least a few months away), but I could be playing a knackered set of acoustic percussion within hours if I just use Soundfont...
Surely there must be consensus by now...

the kontakt2 dulcitone and harpsichord have some scripting involved for things like the "victoriana " knob and layer mixing, but the steel drum percussion room K2 is much the same as the SF version.pough wrote:How much more special are the Kontakt 2 versions over older formats like Soundfont? I did a Google search for "victoriana knob" and I found a link to that post already!pendle wrote:the kontakt2 dulcitone and harpsichord have some scripting involved for things like the "victoriana " knob and layer mixing, but the steel drum percussion room K2 is much the same as the SF version.
That's perfect. Expect a sale when I'm more awake.pendle wrote:.....and anyways you can have up to 3 formats if you want them

Bloody credit card is maxed out, and I'm a couple of bucks short in my Paypal account - will try to remember when my transfer goes through. May I ask for a bit of info about you? I'm curious

ooh where to start .......
based in Brighton UK, used to be in a fashionably obscure "shoegaze" kinda band back in the day ( album on rough trade, john peel sessions etc ) , been doing a combination of low art ( tv music ) and hi art ( sound installations ) for the last few years. ermmm ...release stuff occasionally as idmonster http://www.mono211.com/content/releases/mtkmp185.html
ermmm.....
....anyways enough about me, what about you ?

I'm an Aquarian, have 3 Guinea pigs, 17 dogs, and 12 elephants, although the local council won't let me keep the elephants at home. My favourite food is anything I can eat with a straw, and my favourite TV show is The Oprah Winfrey Show (followed closely by SuperNanny). I'm currently single, and I live with my great-great-grandmother, who doesn't really say much. She also seems to think I'm unemployed, which is untrue, as I get $10-20 a week busking (I'm a clarinet player).pendle wrote:....anyways enough about me, what about you ?

I finally got some time to sit down and play around with this stuff. It's so much fun! The knackered percussion has some very interesting sounds in it (although I think a few of them jump too much in different velocities) and the Dulcitone has the sweetest, hauntingest sound ever. Makes me proud of my Scottish roots!
At any rate, I whipped up something over the weekend just to hear them in a song-like-thing and I thought I'd share.
Say Goodbye
Excuse the Satanic voice. I wanted to do a Tom Waits thing but I sound more like Kermit the Frog.
I'm not trying to make a living at music - just having some fun.
