Is the display reading properly and there is no sound?
Or are the preset names garbled and the sounds as well?
Or..worst case scenario...is the display showing solid
blocks?

The display works and the unit has two working formant patches. Playing with it again, I found that all the DX patches are intact, which is something like 1,024 patches, so the unit isn't nearly as crippled as I'd remembered, but you probably shouldn't bother with it if you're getting an FS1R for all the unique formant stuff that really makes it so special.
