I'm in! I use Tracktion.Chris Walton wrote:Any volunteers to do beta testing with a debug version before I give it to the masses? In particular, I'm looking for people to test Orion, Tracktion, and Cubase, as those have given the most problems.

Two things
(1) Rejoice, because things are working much better now. Cubase SL3 works perfect (according to a beta-tester). Cubase 4.1 however doesn't recognize all of the oversampled plugins, but we're working on that.
(2) Instead of making my own filter, I've been pointed towards the HIIR library, and I decided to use it for upsampling and downsampling. For those that don't know, HIIR is a high-quality, low-cpu open-source library for oversampling and phase-shifting, written by Laurent De Soras from Ohmforce (thanks Laurent!)

I've seen both, and hiir is so much better and different and faster in every way ...tekalo wrote:from his site, about HIIR library:Chris Walton wrote: (2) Instead of making my own filter, I've been pointed towards the HIIR library, and I decided to use it for upsampling and downsampling. Oh, and hiir is now implemented! I'll release a new beta to the betatesters in the next hour ... although I'm thinking of making this third beta a public beta

This is the 200th post in this thread ...
but most importantly...
VST Oversampler 1.3 Release Candidate 1 is out
See the first post for details.
Many thanks to Josmoker and novaflash for betatesting, and an extra thanks to Josmoker for providing such a detailed bugreport (with screenshots and everything!), allowing me to find and fix the audioMaster bug

good to hear it works, thanks
How's the sound quality? I set HIIR to use reasonable values - processing overhead is 1.5% on my 1.3Ghz Celeron M, and should be much less for the kind of computers most people have here
, but if it isn't good enough I can always bump it a notch or two.

Since VST 2.4, VST Plugins can also utilize 64-bit processing if the host supports it. So if both the host and the plugin can do 64-bit processing, the host calls a different part of the plugin to do the processing, which uses 64-bit numbers instead of 32-bit.puffer wrote:Hey, Chris.
What do you mean by this?
Curious. If the 64-bit processing path is used, the oversampler won't work
At the moment, the oversampler shows an error message, then disables itself when that happens, since it can't handle 64-bit audio yet. A future update will implement 64-bit processing support. Until then, you get an error message. I'm thinking about changing this so that the oversampler traps the plugin when it tries to tell the host it knows how to do 64-bit processing, so that the host never finds out about it and just calls the 32-bit processing function.

Both the upsampling and downsampling, or just the downsampling?Genetic_Junk wrote:Please bump it up a notch.Chris Walton wrote:good to hear it works, thanks
