New sounddemo:

Dry first, then changing phaser settings.
I am not satisfied with the feedback-parameter until now, but it's said that the original Schulte Phaser just caused eardestroying noise when turning the feedback-knob up more than half....

I just had to try to make a short piece that hints towards both Tangerine Dream and a bit of Kraftwerk.
I know I suck at playing, but I am still learning
EDIT: I removed the silly song that was linked here...

Nice idea for a VST!
One suggestion: add host-synced modulation rates....

MrM- we're ALL still learning! I dig your demo
Liquidclear- +1 for host sync!
really like this one, WOK! it's not like any phaser I've ever played thru. It can be subtle enough to almost act as an autopan or it can sound like a tremolo!
the demo ditty I did is not at all in the spirit of TD though I definitely sight them as one of my formative influences
... this is very much a bit of a choppy excursion, but I'm hoping it shows how much "spin" you can put on sounds with tdphase.
While I did use other fx, I pretty much kept tdphase at the end of the chain so it is quite evident, especially on the drums: I recorded several clips of MIDI and audio clip loops of drums running thru tdphase. I chopped those up and rearranged them so that the phasing is NOT at all smooth, but somehow it does still have a consistency about it.
I've listened to this piece a few times and then it finally dawned on me:
have you ever listened to music near a large open fire? If you have, you know what i'm talking about: it does REALLY strange things to sounds
If you have a chance (I'm *not* suggesting everyone go build a bonfire!) put a radio/boombox on one side of the fire and you go stand opposite (with the fire between you and the radio)... when the wind shifts you'll start hearing really bizarre phasing/swishing stuff with rhytmic but sort of jarring volume changes... sort of like the mess I've created HERE.
It certainly was not intentional, but it's pretty close to the effect.

OK, I am still not 100% satisfied with my product, so I will give you two different versions first with a slightly different sound:
this is v0.9: http://www.service-1.de/music/tdphaser.dll
this is v1.0: http://www.service-1.de/music/tdphaser1.dll

i like the way it sounds on vocals
i just tried 0.9 and 1.0 back to back with all sliders maxed
0.9 sounds smoother, definitely my favourite

I did the same, maxing all the sliders. Put both DLL's on a drum track and I liked V0.9 way more then V1.0metalsvinet wrote:i like the way it sounds on vocals

But, as much as I love the sound of this plugin, I hate to bring the bad news that this plugin probably denormalizes
At least, on my P4 upon silent parts the CPU went to 100% and stayed there untill I bypassed the plugin.
So an improved version of V0.9 would be very welcome

I can't check the denormal-prob, because I am on Reaper (with integrated denormal-protection) on an AMD.MrM wrote:I hate to bring the bad news that this plugin probably denormalizes

Unfortunately, I overwrote the source of v0.9 during development, and I lost the overview over the changes I made
But anyway I want to make a complete rework of the plugin for more authentic sound, because I deviated too much from the original circuit already.
Meanwhile you may try a descendant of the plugin, a steroidphaser for "moving up" the sound; 8 stages each with an own LFO, spread in stereo.
