Hi Xavier,
The contest this year had many amazing entries. I thought that two of them showed exceptional genius: KX-Modulad and Sounds of Nature.
You might have drawn a smaller crowd, but your wave tracer and sound design with KX-Modulad are still very appreciated.

Agreed, probably the only entries guaranteed a permanent spot in my plugin folder.paulmerchant wrote:I thought that two of them showed exceptional genius: KX-Modulad and Sounds of Nature.

Hi,
Thanks
If I will do the KVR DC 2008, I will make a Kx-Burger synthe, just for the fun, anyway I will keep my time.
I will never send this kind of synthesizer, it cannot be appreciate by all users. It's too for the sound designers.
Thanks
Yes, I thought the same thing. You might have drawn a smaller crowd

Hi,
I read my old post...I'm a bad gamer
.
The Kx-Modulad is a work too personal.
When I said :"kx-burger", I wanted to say "simple thing to eat quickly, easy to understand and play".
I think that is possible to do a good plugin with these limits.
I appreciated this DC, really.
Now, I understood what I can do for the next DC.

Hi Xavier,
Can you tell me what the numbers next to the waveform name signify? They go from 0-255. Thanks.
This is a really deep synth, but I like the quality of the sound. Is there something on your site of similar sound quality, yet simpler to understand?

Hi,
You can make up to 256 waveforms by type (sine, tri, saw, sqr, free) with the wavetracer.
The number makes it possible to differentiate the waveforms.
If you select a nonexistent file , the sound is muted.
The Kxstep uses a similar modular structure but it is more 70's and monophonic.
The Kxomni is a stereo hybrid synthesizer more close of the Kx-Modulad sonority.
I use my oscillators only with the Kx-Modulad.

bk, would my poor attempt at clarifying a few points in the manual be of any help? Perhaps kx77free could add even more useful infos?

C:\KXDATAS\KxWaveTracer.exe
Once these two paths are set -
Save the waveform parameters into the " Data.kxw " file
> push on the "Save Datas" button
Render the waveform
> push on the "Render" button
Display the waveform
> push on the "Display" button
You should see this.
Remember, "THE NUMBER 0 TO 9 ARE PROTECTED FOR THE PRESETS"!
I'm working backwards with my numbering, example OSC MED FREE 255, 254, 253, etc. Just because. So dial in a name for what you're about to create.
In the section "Level Group1" go ahead and set harmonics to your preferences.
Get a visual preview of your settings by using "Save Datas" then "Render" then "Display". If you like what you see or just wanna hear what it sounds like, you must return to the modular page and select this named and created OSC waveform in the VCO1-2 section (if OSC waveform is what you created).

OK. That makes sense, now. Thanks.kx77free wrote:You can make up to 256 waveforms by type (sine, tri, saw, sqr, free) with the wavetracer.
I've downloaded Omni, but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the suggestion.
@bobsled: Thanks for the info. Frankly, I haven't even tried the waveshaper yet, but I'll keep this in mind when I do.

In fact , I included waveform presets, see the presets 100-128.Get a visual preview of your settings by using "Save Datas" then "Render" then "Display". If you like what you see or just wanna hear what it sounds like, you must return to the modular page and select this named and created OSC waveform in the VCO1-2 section (if OSC waveform is what you created).
With these presets you can build or modify the original waveforms and save them into another files.
Osc, lfo = use, like oscillator or lfo
It's possible that I work on a different way to make lfo waveforms, that's why I made a different process for the LFO waveforms, like a drawing method.
And the lookuptables of lfo have more data to get an accurate voltage.
The default voltage is around 5.000 volts (osc, lfo).
That's why you must use an accurate voltage when you create waveforms of lfo!!
The level indicators are set for the A3 note, the level should be greater for the lowest notes and lower for the highest.
Low,Med,Hi = quality, size and the number of the lookuptables.
Low is useful to test quickly
Med is the default quality
Hi is the Hi quality mode, one lookuptable per note!
Sine,Tri,Saw,Sqr,free are types of waveforms.
In fact, the drawing method to create a waveform is not accurate to determinate the harmonics !
Tri and Sqr waveforms use the same harmonics but they have different phases and levels.
If you create a waveform with a same sonority than a Square waveform, choice to store it like a sqr type.
0-255 is the number of the waveform per type.
I choose this method because it is more easy to change quickly the waveform, like a classic synthesizer. I prefer work with my ears.
When you "save the data", you update the "data.kxw" file (parameters) and the kxwavetracer.ini file (waveform path and name).
The "render" button calls the kxwavetracer program which read its "ini" file.
The "display" button load the file into the display screen and reload the waveforms into the oscillators but, of course, you must choice the same file with the selectors of oscillators.
