Hi
Just got my first bas Yamaha bb-414, nice. Well do you have any suggestion on a good small bas amp to use at home. Maybe also to record onto my computer. Thankful for help.

What's your budget?

Consider buying used. My wife plays her bass through a Line6 LD150. It's not too big for practicing, but it's big enough for any club gig.

Well I am thinking of something to just use at home 5- 15 w maybe. And as I am new on the bas, something not to fancy.

Some of the smaller SWR amps are decent and very inexpensive on the used market.

FYI: I'm not a bassist. I play woodwinds and piano and guitar is like my 4th instrument I think. My wife plays bass (and is rockin' it!)

Anyway I was playing a $100 Peavey in the store. It surprised me, because I think if you put it on a high stand you could gig with it.

I think you'll find a good practice amp; there's a lot of good design going into small cabinets these days.

Do check the used market, though. The amp is part of the instrument, and it's good to have a decent amp that you can play out with. Chances are you'll be investing again soon...

One thing we tried for a while, was one of my PA amps (QSC1450) and one of my monitors. Worked really great, especially with the Digitech pedal.

Another thing you might consider is a pedal. You can practice through headphones, or input to whatever DAW you have. I'd like to discourage you from buying an amp you'll hate. At least buy it used. You can benefit from other people's loss of interest, which happens more often than not in music

I never had a real bass-amp, always played on borrowed and hired amps at gigs and i've also often been amazed by the Peavy-amps. Mostly dissapointed by the Trace Elliot amps. For my home-recording I just use an old 4-track as a pre-amp and plug that in my soundcard.

used to have an 80's model.. fun saturation. they want too much for them at the quik-pawn on golf links + pantano.

lol I forget that I'm not the only local. Guitars Etc on Speedway. Been a few months.

The GC on Broadway might still have a small SWR "Workingman" bass. I almost bought that. But I'm not the bass player, my wife is, and she ended up with a gently used Line6. Which rocks, by the way.
