I'll be releasing a free Reason refill of my 909, 808 and 606 sampled carefully, before the end of the year. And my 909 is the early revision with the 'famous' good kick sound and nice snare.

Nobody should have to pay for these sounds anymore, it's ridiculous.

You should probably just do the 606 and 909. Why Reason?

After years of rebirth d16 did the trick for me, but I can't get over how good that goldbaby 808 sounds through that tape machine.

Fair enough. I'm all for having many choices available. Looking forward to having a listen.

You have your approach to sample the classics with true tape recoding analogue gear etc and I have no doubt at all about the sound quality of your product. I hope you get great sales and happy customers.

Our library has a different approach with true non processed samples that is recorded multiple on each stage of the available settings to capture the organic feel of the boxes circuits. It has not been done yet and for those who like too have the evolving analogue feel of the originals out library delivers that.
So we are focusing on the machines irregularities with non outboard processing, the user has to feed the sound to his/her gear to "pimp it up" but the core sound is "True" with the things that is special for this classics; evolving sound.

I think this machine deserves a proper sampling with the focus we have pronounced here.

I have included the non-processed TR808 samples with the Tape808. These were recorded straight into the ULN-2 with no processing and multiple settings. Also using two Tr808's meant we could choose the best samples... As you may be aware no two 808's are the same... We ended up with about 700 samples! The end product uses 407 of the best samples from all our recording sessions...
This is as close to a TR808 in samples as you can get... plus the extra flavor of tape and vintage gear if you want it.

Yes you are right there are differences between the machines and there are also differences between each single hit on the actual machine.

They are not my specifics. They come from the service manual, which I see you have now had a look at.

You stated that only the kick, snare and toms were analogue and I pointed out the FACT that more voices than that are analogue. I didn't think there was anything to argue over.

dirty oscillators wrote: but i will say this- that filter is not the same as something like a Curtis Filter chip on a Prophet 5. it's STATIC. it does not change the sound over time.
If you don't apply modulation to something like a Curtis filter it will also be static.
I'm not sure what your trying to say here.

dirty oscillators wrote: i've used a 909 several times in the studio and i've owned a jomox for about 8 years (which is essentially the same setup - analog kick, snare, etc., sampled cymbals and crash which run through a VCA) and i've NEVER noticed the sampled parts sounding different upon each trigger.
Jurgen that makes the Jomox stuff has stated that he uses analogue amps and envelopes so that every hit is not the exact same.I'll try and find the quote for you.
The Jomox circuits are more stable than the old Roland gear though.

please, there's no way you can hear the attacks of the hat or the crash (for example, and yes, i know that the FACT that the clap is analog) especially in a mix. that's my point. the kick drum is easy to identify. but the 6 bit samples, no way. you can't convince me.

actually maybe you could. i want you to send audio examples of this. if you can prove that the crash cymbal on the 909 sounds different on every trigger through an audio example (no tweaking of the voice) i'll believe you.

and... do you have that quote from Jurgen?

my Emax has an analog filter and a VCA, but i don't notice the samples sounding different on every trigger. because they are samples. samples are static - i don't care if you are sending the samples through a VCA. so does this mean that any audio signal (as a repeated sample, say a hi hat) i send through my Soundcraft Mixer sounds different upon each trigger and it's because it's an analog signal path?? :?:
