hi, im getting a new OD pedal soon.

which is the better choice? boss' blues driver or digitech's bad monkey?

please help me out

you can hear samples of several of Digitechs line of pedals. Bad Monkey aint to darn bad, imo. Meaning it's pretty darn nice. More versatile than the BD, me thinks. I sold my BD and replaced it with a Tube Screamer, and I like it much better. Depends on what amp you are feeding it into, also... some amps sound better with certain pedals, not so good with other pedals.

Be aware though that those audio clips have more processing on them than just the pedal. I heard some delay, maybe some splitting and doubling, etc....

If it were me, I'd take the Bad Monkey!! No contest.

I use a Bad Monkey for adding dirt to my single channel SE5A, and it's a great sounding OD which doesn't colour my guitar tone.

Never tried a bad monkey, supposed to be excellent value for money. The BD, I have only tried a keeley modded one, which was a very nice pedal, price wise in a different ball park to the bad monkey of course. Never tried an original

For the DOD 250, there are a number of different versions of it:
77 Grey
80's Yellow
Yellow Reissue
YJM 308

as far as I can remember. It's also very similar in design to the MXR Dist+ and the Ross Distortion.

Now I've typed all that out I realise you are probably only after a brand new one, in which case you can ignore most of what I have just posted

Best bet is just to try them out in a shop with your guitar into an amp that is at least similar to yours.

I don't know about Bad Monkey, but ANY song can be improved with the fine products of Rad Monkey!

I used a Blues Driver for quite a while as a backup to my old TS-808. It was a decent pedal, but never really came close to the old tube screamer. About a year ago I sold it to one of my friends and took the money and bought a Bad Monkey. I didnt really expect much out of the Bad Monkey because I've never really been found of Digitech's stuff, but it was so cheap that I thought what the hell. I was qite surprised with what I got for my $35. This pedal freakin rocks. It pushes the front end of my twin so perfectly without changing the way my guitar sounds. Thats mostly how I use it, but it is pretty versatile. There are lots of good crunch tones within. I've even gotten cool bass sounds direct recording through the cabinet simulator output.

People think I'm crazy when I say this, but it has replaced the TS-808 in my live pedal board.
