Ok ... I've been trying to replicate the compressor sound in the mp3 using the first part of the loop with several software compressors.
I can't get it with any other compressor
Tried:
* Oxford Dynamics
* URS 1980
* Pro-C
* Vanilla
* MjCompressor
* Reacomp
* Sonitus
Sigh. The ones that got similar results (Reacomp and Pro-C) were very far from achieving the clear thump and the preservation of the rest of the elements. All fcked up the rest of the elements.

Did you try the Wave API (I assume you got an iLok there)? The energetic attack reminded me of it a bit.

I don't remember it like that. In drum busses the API destroyed, not enhanced, the attack no matter how slow it was or which detector it used. I could never get agressive sounds from it. Good as a buss compressor, not as a drum or indiv. chan compressor.bduffy wrote:Did you try the Wave API (I assume you got an iLok there)? The energetic attack reminded me of it a bit.
Maybe you're talking about the SSL E-channel? In that case, yeah, I think it could get close.
Just theories ... not proven.

Really? Ha ha, opposite here. I found the SSL one wimpy, and the API compressor could get some pretty punchy compression. I'm just going from memory here, but I liked it better than SSL. But it's all kind of conjecture, trying to compare all these disparate software compressors.copperx wrote:I don't remember it like that. Eagerly awaiting this one. Any word yet on a release? Free? Commercial? Pre-order/pre-download/beta version? I can't wait!

hhmmm... hope I didn't poke too much on the algo....
(I'll throw a new mp3 in the hour so you can judge the final algo)
I actually tend to release this as donation-ware.
A small step in the money direction...
I've finished the wallpaper and done 1/4 of the floor today!

Allright!
Have you considered going the ddmf way of "purchase at your own price"?
So before allowing to download you see a screen prompting you to pay for the plugin, with a texbox filled with some default price but allowing you to change that price?
It works better than having the "download" and "donate" buttons separate, and it is still donationware. It is simply a more visible reminder to people.

Wow! it sounds really really beautiful. Wow.
By the way ... how does it sound on other sources? E.g. bass?

Damn, you intend to make a full midi/audio/daw package? THIS I look forward to seeing... even more than this compressor.
