The upper right hand corner of each Expantion Tank page has a button that says, "Browse the complete Sound List."

completely different sets of sounds. The XL library has recently been polished and corrected (I don't have the latest incarnation). The expansion tanks are individually tailored to certain sounds, such as drums or guitars or whatever. The XL library is more like a workstation, where it covers all of the bases. I don't know if the expansion tank sounds are better or not, but as I understand it, there isn't any duplication from the ST libraries.P.T. wrote:What would be the difference between Sampletank 2.5 XL and the group buy with the ST 2.5 engine and the 6 Expansion Tanks.
Does ST 2.5 XL have more sounds than those in the 6 expansions, or are they different sounds?
Also, rememebr that you are getting the whole SS2 library as well, which has a TON of sounds, including a lot of bread-and-butter type stuff, but wiuth a strong emphasis on synth stuff. It's a pretty varied library.

I posted over on the Sony Creative Acid forums. If any of you guys own Sony products and ever go to those forums, I'd appreciate a bump. Also V. I. Control forums for any of you who visit there.

Hi,
I'm really on the fence on this one. I own ST2.5 XL and the Symphonic Strings Expansion.
I notice that SS2 also has a lot of the same "Bread and Butter" categories in acoustic instruments. How different are the acoustic presets between ST2.5 XL and SS2?
I like the idea of adding the synth sounds part of SS2 but I don't think I need another similar group of acoustic sounds that I already have.
There are some other good synth VST's in this general price range.
Dimension Pro and Gladiator are two that come to mind.
Any comparison help you all can provide would be appreciated as well as
explaning the difference in ST2.5 XL and SS2 as I mentioned above.
Thanks in advance,
Jerru

While the categories may overlap between SampleTank2.5 and Sonik Synth 2, the two libraries have very different flavours. In short, the SampleTank2.5 library is more "produced" and ready to use without much tweaking. A lot of character processing (such as compression, eq, and other effects) are "baked in" at the sample level. The instruments in Sonik Synth 2 by comparison are a lot more "neutral" and "unprocessed" in sound, which is much more flexible if you're interested in shaping your own signature sounds. It's not quite as quick as the SampleTank2.5 library, but there are plenty of child presents and combo presets with effects processing and layering already configured. There's a lot of variety there.Jerru wrote:I notice that SS2 also has a lot of the same "Bread and Butter" categories in acoustic instruments. Simply speaking, the SampleTank2.5 library is great if you need to work quickly and don't mind a bit less flexibility, and the Sonik Synth 2 library is great if you need to craft your own sounds.
Of course, if you're serious about your music, it's best to have both!

I really want to know:
1. If I join the group buy, the sampletank 2.5 XL sounds are not included. Is there a possibility to get them? And what would it cost? Are they downloadable or boxed?
2. I tried already to join the group buy. As I am living in Austria there seems to be a shipping fee of 15$. So shipping is not free, is that right?
3. If i join the group buy and get the possibility to get the 2.5XL sounds: can you ship them together?
That's all, I hope

Someone from esoundz will need to answer your questions about SampleTank sounds, but I can assure you that shipping is free. I'd recomend emailing them.
Here in the states, this is a holiday weekend, so I expect esoundz will be closed until Monday. But Squids can show up at any time!

The group-buy is over... kinda. Because you can still purchase the group-buy!
I edited Squids post down to this:
You can still purchase the group buy. It won't appear as joining; it will just be a purchase. We are keeping it open through the end of the day (here in Florida so 5 pm Eastern Time) on Monday. So you can still "join" through 5pm eastern US time on Monday.
Here is the link to join:

If you need to refer someone, my esoundz name is ReverendRhythm.
