nice.

but how many pianos does one really need?

(I'm a pro sax player and get by with one tenor and one soprano sax, plus flute and clarinet :hihi: )

listening to mp3s now, estonia is definetly off the list.

You can never have too many (distinctive) pianos, but you can sure have too little RAM or too little disc space to store them for intermittent use. :P

That being said, the Sampletekk people are tremendous, their pianos are remarkable, and their occasional sales produce eye-popping prices. :) Their other keyboards are worth examining, too.

In a world of crushed-flat MP3 mixes and 16bit audio, acoustic piano subtleties are less common. But if it's what you need, it's, um, what you need ... :ud:

I got it in my e-mail, since I'm an existing Sampletekk customer.

It's not a LUG group buy.

Yep, another group buy in a few days. Big discounts. ;)

I don't think I'm going to get anything as I already own two of their ace pianos, not much sense getting any more - but if you guys haven't availed yourself of a Sampletekk piano before, then I strongly urge you that it's *well* worth the money...

I'm not saying it's not worth it :D .

Please don't forget to let me know about it when it starts, I'll do some more critical listening in the meantime. Old Lady and Rain Piano are tops (and I do have a real upright now), maybe something else as well - depends on the discount.

Yeah, I got the email as well. I'm lining up my purchase(s) already to see what I can afford to get this time around!

This may be a dumb question, but by group buy, you mean to others outside the already customers of Sampletekk crowd, don't you (of which I would like to join)?

Post

Yes, a group buy for everyone. Coming very soon though, not yet.

I've got two pianos (White Grand Jr and Rain Piano) which sound great, but are too big for tracking. Are there any Sampletekk pianos that are good for tracking. For someone with a shitty computer that is.

I think a lot of his sample libraries include an option with fewer samples (reduced number of velocities etc). Did you look into this?

Well he says he has White Grand Junior which *is* already a cut down lite version of the full White Grand. Perhaps he just needs a better computer system...?

I think Rain Piano upright is practically the smallest Sampletekk piano there is, if even it is too big, then you're pretty much out of luck. FWIW, I can play any of the pianos I have (Rain Piano, TSO, Black Grand Close, WG Jr.) just fine on my modern'ish laptop with 2 gigs of ram, but they ARE big already even though being cut down versions.
never stop loving music.
