host not respecting Philharmonik part volume

Hi
I've just started using Philharmonik in Sonar and I've come up against an old problem I remember having in FLS. Basically, the host doesn't respect the Philharmonik part volume settings. So I'll pull the volume of one of the parts down to 50 for example, but Sonar will be blasting it out at what sounds like full. If I mute the part and then bring it back that fixes it, but it's not a solution since I have to do it for all parts every time I play the track.
Does anybody know what's causing this and how to fix it?
Thanks
Mark

You can contact IK tech support for these kinds of things. But, one thing that comes to mind is this. Do you have the latest version of Miroslav Philharmonik? www.philharmonik.comaldred wrote:Hi

Also if you have SampleTank 2.5XL you can try reading the Philharmonik sounds from there to see if you have the same problem. It's an old bug from the ST engine but I haven't seen it in a while.

Looks like I have the latest version. So the best idea is to submit a support request through the IK website?
Has anybody else had this problem? I was wondering why it didn't come up on a forum search since I've experienced it in both FLS and Sonar.

Try right clicking on the track fader, and unchecking Automation Read Enable.
I think what's happening here is that Sonar is sending a volume from your midi track volume fader, and it's overriding the volume you're setting in Sampletank.
If that doesn't do it, get ahold of IK.

Hold the phones,,, here's a new discovery I just made,,, lol.
This is way cool....try this.
Right click on the track fader, and check Automation Read Enable, AND Automation Write Enable. Use the Midi Track's pan and volume control in Sonar to adjust the volumes and it will create an automated pan and level envelope and automate you're track while you record.

Thanks. I just tried it, but no luck. Something is still sending the volume up every time I re-play the track. Is there anything else related to these settings that could be causing it?
Thanks

It looks like the problem is solved if I use the VST version. I was using DX. The VST has the midi track volume and part volume moving in sync and it doesn't change when I stop and start the track. Which is great but .... for example, what if I want to control multiple parts with a single midi track but have different volumes for each part? How do I leave the volume up to Philharmonik in Sonar?
Thanks

I'm glad it's working.
I'd say the best option would be to use more than one midi track, and setting the different voices of the combination to different channels in Sampletank(Philharmonik).
Set the voices in the Combi to separate channels.
Set up enough Midi tracks in Sonar for the number of channels you are using.
Set the input of the Midi tracks to the same midi input, and set the outputs to the channels you use in Sampletank.
Turn on the input echo on the Midi tracks.
Arm the tracks, and record the track. It will record the same performance on all three tracks.
Now you can draw separate envelopes for each part on each track.
You could also clone a track after you recorded it, and route the cloned tracks to the other channel(s), for mixing.
If you want it all in real time, you could probably make an ACT set up to control them. HTH

Thanks. That looks like it would do the trick. Any way you know of to just cut the connection between the midi track volume and Philharmonik part volumes so that Philharmonik takes control?
Thanks

Got exactly the same problem in Cubase SE3 recently. It happened after I worked on the project for several weeks - either Cubase or SampleTank (2.5) suddenly started resetting the part volume to the default (100) on every project reload. I had to set up the automation track for the volume to stay where I want it. Cannot reproduce it in other projects, don't know what causes the problem.aldred wrote:Has anybody else had this problem?
