Could you give me an ultra-quick rundown of what I would need to compile this myself? When I asked for my little nasty feature I didn't notice this was open source. Probably I can hack it in there myself, but I never build anything on windows.

I've only used the Microsoft compiler, so no idea if you could get it running with MingW - best get yourself Visual Studio Express (free). Anyway, it says in the README.txt what you need - Laurent de Soras' HIIR library, and the VST SDK 2.4 (aeffect.h and aeffectx.h and vstplug.def). You're welcome to send me an email if you need more help.

The 1.35 beta doesn't do so well on my system.
The instrument version of energy xt (1.4) doesn't load in energy xt or cubase(sx 2.2) The effect version just shows the parameters rather than the normal GUI. I have not tried it with any other plugs though.

For the instrument version an error message states: A DLL initialization routine failed.

edit: Should there be an audible different between the 1.3 and 1.35. It doesn't look like any changes were made that would affect the sound (sans the 64bit compatibility).

In Sonar 7 the oversampler dll is not shown in the plugin menu... in Reaper i get crashes for several VSTi's
I try to understand, how the downsampling process takes into account the frames of samples, the windowing. For example if you process a range of 1024 Samples and another one and append them to get a result you ran into problem if both frames are downsampled independent. But: I usually sounds great!:-) I love the oversampler. A "always 44Khz" Sampler would be great too: using a host sample rate of 96KHz you could use the Downsampler just for the plugins that dont't work at 96KHz...

Hmm, yeah, I was seeing a problem with the GUI not showing as well, which is why it's only beta

(I couldn't figure out the reason at the time). Will investigate tomorrow.

I am having troubles too seeing GUI's, so please upload a fix, because that would be awesome. Have you set up a donation paypal account or something?

I also noticed that there is no sound when I use my Sonalksis EQ and compressor.

I just implemented support for SSE and 3DNow!. I need some volunteers to help me try it - I need one person with a computer that has 3DNow! but not SSE (older Athlon), and I need one person who has neither SSE nor 3DNow! (very rare these days, I know...)

Best is if I just upload an .exe for people to try that tests my SSE/3DNow! testing routine, and pops up a Messagebox with the results. I'll be gone all day today though so I'll do it tomorrow.

so is there a plan for a 4x oversampler?

Its insane what just 2x oversample does when you modulate the filter at audio rate.

Starting with 1.3, the VST Oversampler is open-source. The source code is in the .zip file with the .dll.

Translation to LOLCAT: VST OVERSMAPLER 1.3 HAS A SRC FLAVOR! SRC IS IN UR ZIP, COMPILIN UR DLL

One of the greatest (alleged) signature-quotes on this board is "DO I BE GOOGLE OR WHAT?"

Which I was, by the way, to find this great tutorial:

Which allowed even me to compile this plugin and include my little feature: if the ".os" part from the dll name is missing it will try to load the plugin from a different directory, thus allowing me to transparently replace a plugin.

If someone else cares about this feature (didn't seem like that yet) I'd happily post my version.

Does it look in a fixed directory for the VST?

If it isn't messy I'd be happy to include the feature in my tree

(Although I do fear it might not always be the best idea to transparently replace a plugin like that...)

Maybe I should start including the project file in future distributions, so that people that want to compile it can simply drop the VST SDK and HIIR in the right folders and go.
