For example, I would like to sample A, C#, B, and D from multiple patches in Crystal VSTi.

What would be the quickest method to accomplish this?

If you need to automatically sample a VSTi, Highlife does that and it is free. You just load the VSTi inside it and define the keys, velocities etc. you need.
Extreme Sample Converter also does the job if you have it.
Your problem will probably be switching patches. I don't know if Highlife can send program changes or not. You should check that.

If you need a lot of patch changes and not many notes in a patch, you may be better off writing a notes and automating patch changes in your host, then rendering and slicing the outcome. More work, I think, and for many notes per patch or different velocity layers - this could be a nightmare.

If you don't mind spending money, definitely check out OSR from Devine Machine. It's 95$ (price on their site) but should automate handle anything you throw at it - in theory at least.

Maybe you just can render tracks in your host and edit the wavs.

...you can also use the freeze option of Ableton Live. You set up one clip per note and hit freeze...

Hi,

I add to the above programs IL sampler Direct Wave that can do this.

As well as programs like Sample Robot wich can do this and many more but obviously require more time to be mastered.

I never tried these programs though. (I own Direct Wave but don't have enough time to test that atm)

Thanks for all these suggestions. So all of these products can record notes into WAV but which one would automate the following tasks:
- Selecting notes
- Rendering each note to a separate WAV
- Naming each WAV based on the note and patch
- Switching patches in a VSTi

Extreme Sample Converter won't handle patches, AFAIK. It will handle the other tasks and can create a sample set out of these.

I own ExSC and think it's great but I think HighLife is what you really want. It doesn't get more simple.

Load Highlife
Load VSTi into HighLife
Select and tweak patch
Freeze
Export Waves or SFZ.
Done.
