Note names, frequencies and intruments

Please can you clear something up for me...

I believe that an open bass e string is 41.2 hz and a guitar 6th string is 82.4 hz. But is the bass E0 and the guitar E1, or the bass E1 and the guitar E2?

I'm asking here because some of the basses in sample tank sound a bit odd when you play E0.
