Ahem
this is quite a dumb question, but i haven't found any ADSRwindow... How do you modify the enveloppe (attack, decay, release...)?

It's almost like on the original, except that you use the mouse instead of the buttons - you have to press the right mouse button somewhere on the GUI, then choose Env 1-4 and there you go. You choose different set of parameters with the right mouse button. Yea, it's cumbersome, but all the synths of that time were like that... 10s of screens - each one for just a few parameters. Good old days... not!

There are "direct edit" buttons on the right side.

Ok, thank you DuX.
I had searched into those many windows, but i was confused with the parameters all abelled "L" : i hadn't noticed that hanging the mouse on the knobs was displaying the needed info in the lower bar ("decay, attack, et"... and this is what i was looking for !).

yeah, this is pretty amazing, sounds like the real thing.

now if I can just get my patch banks from my old ST floppy images into a pc friendly format -- anybody remember an Atari freeware librarian called esquisit.tos? The banks have an .esq extension, but just renaming them to .syx doesn't work, SQ8L doesn't recognize them.

Try reading your banks into SoundLib. It's a good program to rearrange and convert banks.

thanks! unfortunately Soundlib can't read the esquisit.tos files either, but no problem, I've still got the ESQ-M sitting in a closet.

nope, google turned up quite a few but I didn't find those -- thanks once again! I poked around with a hex editor for a while, easy to see why Soundlib etc can't read the files -- thought about writing a converter but my enthusiasm for that kind of thing isn't what it used to be. Fortunately I don't have that many banks that I really need to salvage, hopefully I can just load them into the ESQ via STeem and send them back as standard sysex.

Strange site.. very 90s. Somebody should have said something about a manual. I'm not ready to pull my sq80 manual apart so this will have to do..

I don't see any reason it wouldn't. I used WinUAE and an Amiga editor. Unless they are original patches they might already be in the bundle although I have a few more carts to convert too.
