How to make that sound...

I've been at this for quite some time, and I think it's way harder than just slapping up a discosample with a phaser on it.

Laying down alot of work to find a nice sample is one thing. But to find out the sample is out of tune in several places of the recordning is the one thing that usually kills my projects.

Also, I think most want to add their own basses to the samples and filter out the existing ones. I recently realized that I need a real bassguitar for this. Haven't found any ROMpler or the likes which gives off a genuine sound.

Projects I worked on that also got killed when I tried adding a bass, if anyone is interested:

A real tip I can give is to add a bitcrusher before the phaser to give it a daft punk feeling.

Guy whats so hard about it? If your having any problems getting the bass why not use something like Fretted synth GCBS or MDA subsynth to furrow out the proper notes. Then you can run it thru any tuner or audio to midi and get the exact notes.

As someone stated earlier use a ducker to get that pumping feel and your more that half way there!

I have to disagree with having to use a bassguitar to get 'that real bass sound' (although it can help). There are several bass synths, sampled bassed instruments and even SF2's that'l give authentic sounding bass. The upside to using these over filtered samples is that you get much more control and in the end better mixdowns (as your starting out with much better quality). Just use a spectrum analyser to match the frequencies and your ear to match compression and effects is all.
