E-MU Proteus Libraries

Please go to www.DigitalSoundFactory.com for the SoundFont downloads. There are example banks for you to download and test to be sure everything works in your system. The Cakewalk Proteus Pack is in Cakewalk's Dimension format.

yea the price is too high imo. i think cakewalk will wind up lowering their price on the emu pack in time. if you consider that at one time rapture, dimension pro, sonar, and project5 were much more expensive, i cannot fathom how they think they could justify this bundles pricing.

if it matters josh, i have the old module mania bundle sf2s and they are pretty good but very low quality. for the time they were great but they have not aged well.

my main interest is to get those sounds in a higher quality format as i wont be using the sf2 versions ever again.

i've got an original proteus 1/xr - it's a fine unit - kinda fun to tweak, especially because it includes about 60 partials that you can "program" with and such...

but then I've also got a roland S-750 sampler and the 200kb piano on one of the original disks i have is 30 times as playable as the one on the proteus!

i just think when there are options like the sr group-buy going on right now it's a little bit of a head-scratcher why cakewalk would be sticking this thing on the front page...???

For the thousands who have bought their basic products as first-time users, who have no clue why midi-thru ports were invented, never heard of kvr etc. I'm sure all the big players selling at Fryes BestBuy and Guitar Center have a portion in their fanbase in similar mindset, who
are happily purchasing extras at high pricepoint. And there is a plus
to remaining in just one user-camp: familiarity breeds some efficiency, many here are distracted to the edge with new this and better that. I'm sure one could do worse than being saddled with Dimension, Rapture, Z3ta, Dreamstation, the e-mu collection, and a Sonar app to process it all. Or a protools, ni, cubase, or ableton montage...To me its more fun to search for diamonds in the rough, and
the current group-buys are definitely fine jewels!

For those commenting on the price, I suspect that is being set/controlled by EMU in some form of agreement, thus ensuring that these offering don't compete with their own offering in X2 format for their Proteus and Emulator plugins. The biggest indicator of such is that the SF2 versions available from DigitalSoundFactory and Cakewalk are the same price, pack for pack, as the X2 content for sale at the EMU's site...Purely conjecture.

E-mu...bought an 0404 from them when they first came out, unaware that for $50 more, it included ProteusX. But to upgrade to ProteusX later, it was $100, not $50.
