hey can anyone reccomend a good hardware midi router? it doesn't seem there are many (any?) being made today so a used model is ok. i just want a simple one that can distribute mid clock signals (and maybe other stuff) from a master to multiple slaves. one with internal routing other than a patchbay would be best. thanx-gospel

Its a pity you're in the US; Ive got a Nexus 3-to-8 switched router Im looking to sell. If you hit up ebay, though, you should be able to find midi switches listed. Most tend to be 'manual' ie switched by hand, although every once in a while you'll find MIDI-controlled ones, though they tend to be quite a bit more expensive.

hey y? thanx for the reply. there is a Yamaha MJC8 on ebay that looks good and interesting. but i checked out the manual and it was talking about hooking up DX7s and the like. I am not knocking the DX series it just shows how old it is. would that be a problem? any thoughts are appreciated-cheers (i am SO wordly)-gos

I dont think its age should be a problem in terms of functionality, but it is getting on a bit. However these things tend to be fairly simple, so there's not a great deal to go wrong, IMO. As long as itis currently working, and the price is decent, I wouldnt be too worried myself... but if it is too much of a concern, just wait for something newer to come up...

thanx guys. i do have one more question. i am trying to put together a little set up in my studio. i have aqquired some synths, samplers and drum machines which i want to sync up, which is why i asked about a midi router, i am also looking for a "keyboard type mixer" most mixers i see are ones for bands or small "home recording" ones. i have a Roland KC 350 amplifier which is okay but the main attraction was the 4 stereo inputs the sound is pretty good but has no bass so i have a JBL JRX 100 18in sub (300 RMS, 500 Peak) which is almost overkill. but i have all the inputs filled and am looking at getting more gear so i need a way to mix my synths together.
all of my signals will be line level and i don't really need any FX. Level and EQ are all i need though a send or two wouldn't be bad. the closest thing i have seen is the Alesis ZoneMix 6. i guess my goal is to build a little rack with a power conditioner and supply a midi router and a rack mount mixer. any suggestions? thanx gos
