I'm not sure I'd compare it to Model-E, but truth be told it doesn't really do much for me either. My personal favorite would be the Alesis Andromeda. In Unison mode, you can have 16 fully analog sawtooth oscillators detuned as little or as much as you like. Truly an awesome sound.aquar wrote:hey lets hear some examples of what this puppy is capable of.
Edit: Ok I heard the mp3's and truth be told it sounds a bit like Model-E lol
The JP-8000 is the synth which really started the whole "supersaw" thing. I haven't turned mine on in at least 4 years, so I can't really say how well it stands up to the Andromeda... but I'm not holding my breath.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

have you tried rapture, you can make 6 elements of supersaws, each with up to 100 cents of detune...
and more.. if you go about transposing in insane ways. and the saw wave that come inside the rapture packs are amazing.

sytrus is outstanding for this: the modulation options lets you get around some flanging problems, and you can modulate detune via lfo, env, etc.

Supersaw
Sytrus
Zebra 2
Vanguard
Predator
Gladiator
Surge
Xhip
Transcender
Superwave P8
Keep the suggestions coming. NOTE!: While one synth might sound better than the other in my tests, this is purely without effects/processing/creative synth programming, so it's hard to tell which one would be better in different situations.

Such a criminally underrated synth imho. The T3 presets show what this baby is capable of. On-topic, if you fill each of the 6 oscillators with saw waves, detune (or de-phase) them, then activate unison (only a few, seems to be the law of diminishing returns after 4 unison settings) with a moderate pan and detune setting you can get a nice strong superwave sound.D-Fusion wrote:Image line Toxic III

Ok, hehehe, here's an experiment (or, a stunt, rather):
http://www.u-he.com/Z2ElevenWin.zip (VST Win, just Zebra2.dll)
http://www.u-he.com/Z2ElevenAU.zip (Mac AU .component)
The oscillators now have an "eleven" mode which is supposed to be an economic way to add more SuperSawness. However it's a quick mockup. The first 16 notes you play will phase dramatically as the additional saws are not initialized with random phases. If this is on par with the top of the list, I'll refine & add it officially.
Does that come close?
Cheers,
Urs
