Synthepolis seems to be 403 at the moment. Hopefully it will come back up. Great trance synth.

Adventus is a very good supersaw rendition at a great price. - Orbit-50

After demoing the new 11x oscillator mode, I have determined that 11 angry faces (Figure A: :x ) such as the example in Figure A will be aimed in your general direction if you do not include this feature into Z2 permanently.

Thank you,

-VitD

ps: I might be able to fend off the angry faces even if you don't include the 11x oscillator so long as you find a way to introduce superosc into Z2.

pps: I think grrl would back me up on this.

ppps: You don't want to disappoint grrl.. think of the pouty face she would have- how would you ever live with yourself if you did such a thing?

You know the best supersaw sound hands down is STILL helix according to my list... and it's free. I think this supersaw marathon is coming to a close.

Add this to the list: KarmaFX Synth Modular. (www.karmafx.net)

That for sure can create a supersaw, but to play that polyphonic line with the optimum settings for a supersaw....well, make sure your computer is good.

Well, 6 Operators = 6x Saw if needed, if that's not enough it can be multiplied using the polyphonic unisono mode...
A formant is a preferred resonating frequency of any acoustical system.

OK I HEREBY END THIS THREAD!

THE WINNER OF THE BEST SUPERSAW (imo) IS HELIX!

But wait, it gets better. Because I spent hours testing supersaws on all those synths I discovered something.

The only way to get the most powerful supersaw is to combine the supersaws of two different synthesizers.

You're basically gauranteed the most powerful supersaw if you combine Helix with any other synth. That's the only way to do it and I'm stickin' to it.

Combine any of the following with your favorite synth:
Helix (free)
Toxic III (commercial)
ZeroVector (commercial)
Sylenth1 (commercial)
Synth1 (free)

...and you have a very powerful supersaw.

Why not combine the same synth twice? It's very simple. The sound of two different synths and their supersaws are different enough in timbre and harmonics that when combined, they don't cancel each other out and they don't phase or flange. After all, one synth can only add so many saws before it starts sounding like white noise.

Tips for a powerful supersaw
Step 1 - Enable two saws
Step 2 - Pitch the saws -0.05 to -0.25 and +0.05 to +0.25
Step 3 - Multiply both saws to 16. (2 Supersaws / 32 saws)
Step 4 - Detune to your liking
Step 5 - Pan the saws -10% to -50% and +10% to +50%
Step 6 - Grab another synth, repeat steps 1 to 5. Layer. You're done!

Optional: Add a small bit of soft distortion to the supersaws to increase the power.

Optional: Chorus/Unison/Ensemble should be used sparingly or not at all.

Optional: Use a non-pingpong delay set to 8ths is the classic setting. Try it out before you go crazy with delay settings

Optional: A tiny bit of unrealistic, synthy, and silky reverb. Try KarmaFX free plugin pack: http://karmafx.net/index.html (has a nice reverb)

Other tips: Play around with your synth. Try pitching the saws to different octaves. Add some squares to the mix, etc. This will all change the tone of your supersaw if you want a more heavy/original sound.

Wait and see :D

;) Urs

P.S.: Yep, okay, eleven stays in there - but I'll change the volume to a more moderate level - Grrrl is a singer, she doesn't like supersaws next to her in the mix :hihi:

I like to mix Odo's Unknown 4 with Transcender 2, that makes a mean vintage pad. Or mix it with Osirus 6. You can't get any more vintage than Osirus 6.

What was I replying for?

Oh yeah, I assume this Supersaw Marathon was for Euro-Trance leads (there's more than one type of trance, thankfully), but after your testing, would Helix still be best for Electro (think Autechre and Ekstrak, not Grandmaster Flash) pads or evil Drum'n'Bass riffs?

Hmm, I'm not familiar with that area of expertise. All I can say is that you can definitely create some bassy and ugly supersaws for DnB with my suggestions. However, you should check out Glass Viper for non-supersaw DnB madness: http://quikquak.com/Prod_GlassViper.html

Vaz 2010 can play 288 saw waves at one time.
Well, and Vaz Modular can play all the saws your computer will ever manage !

So if this is a list of synths that plays a lot of saws why not ad them to the list ?

But it might sound very (s)awfull :? ..........

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

It might sound sawfull

actually Tera 3, can play 768 saws at 1 time...

I just did it with a calculator...

Post

I just tried to play all of tera's saws...

16 modules, 6 oscillators, and 8 voice detune each... My computer, a 2.2 gigahertz macbook pro.

could not do it. cpu spike to 100% and no sound but low level crackle...

but man, just wait a few years, or somebody on an 8 core mac pro could probably do it.
