Capsules Download installation

Can someone do a step by step for windows installation to Sampletank 2.5?

For the life of me, I can't get the UFO to get to the 2nd step (installing sample file). I've tried both burning to a disc and HD install, both with no luck.

Here's what I did...

First, unzip all the files into a folder.

Next, use the files to create an ISO image. I used a piece of freeware called IMGBURN for this. www.imgburn.com. Here are the basic steps...

1. Make sure you are in 'Build' Mode.



2. Drag the contents of your folder into the 'Source' box.



3. In the destination box, type in (for example) C:\capsule.iso



4. Click on the folder icon to start the ISO creation



5. Answer 'Yes' when prompted about the ISO label, then click OK and the creation will be underway.

When it finishes, you will have an ISO image of the capsule CD on your harddrive.

Next, we need to mount the ISO image. I used Virtual CloneDrive, which is also freeware. www.slysoft.com

1. After installing Virtual CloneDrive, a new drive will appear in 'My Computer'. Right clicking on the drive, will allow you to browse to, and 'mount' the ISO image.



2. Once you've mounted the ISO image, the Virtual drive label should have changed...



3. You can now double click on the Virtual drive and install the capsule as normal. All being well, you won't get the message about inserting the CD anymore.

(BTW - Once installed, you can delete the ISO image and just back-up the newly created Sampletank instruments instead.)

Scarkord--I appreciate that your heart's in the right place, but I think I'll need at least 2 more advanced degrees in engineering to even be able to read your post let alone execute it.

I'm no newbie, but I can't figure out why this doesn't work. No matter what I do, the UFO still asks me to insert another disc to format the samples--even when I use a disc to install it.

But the really weird thing is, even when it aborts at that stage, it appears that the destination file is OK. It's filled with .sth .sti and .stw files for each patch name. When I put it in the Sampletank folder and open Sampletank, I hit 'relist' and everything shows up like it's supposed to. But no sound comes out. All other patches play just fine.

I suppose I'll hunker down and try your work around, but frankly it is very frustrating that this isn't just plug and play like the Expansion Tanks.

I had some problems earlier today but it was really easy to understand what's going on after I chilled out and
drank some beers.

The UFO program runs from the cd rom, and expects to find a folder with compressed programs and
sample files in it. You just tell it what format you want, and where you want the files to go and press the button.
It takes a while to do it's thing, but you get a progress bar at the bottom of the screen. I did the capsules one
at a time, and it worked just fine. I opened up SampleTank and there they were, sounding great.
There's also some sample midi files included with the drum libraries.

The Capsules are a bit of a PITA compared to the Expansion Tanks, but they're easy enough to install.
Don't make it too hard. You unzip and copy the files to the ROOT of a CD, put it in your drive, press two buttons and you're done. Just don't change the folder hierarchy when you unzip or copy.

They sound GREAT and are worth the PITA factor. The mac installation described earlier for our mac using friends works great too, I'm actually running these on a Mac, but used BootCamp on some of the libraries until I figured it
out. I was making it way too hard.

You make it sound as though if I get my 'Zen' together and commune as one with the program, it'll work out. (...BE the ball, Danny... )

Fact is, it doesn't work that way. I've tried everything, and I still get the "...Insert CD-ROM 1..." message.

HOWEVER--I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT SCARKORD APPARENTLY DOES KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING. (I am also very happy to find out that I won't have to pursue those additional engineering degrees. )

I followed Scarkord's step by step above, and it did work just like he said it would.

I can now sleep peacefully. But unfortunately, I did blow a substantial amount of time on this today.

The sounds are great, once you set them up. I just wish the PITA factor was smaller.

LOL it really IS a PITA, keep in mind I'm on a Leopard Mac! But this is a fantastic group buy and it was sure worth persevering. I guess no install
bothers me much after trying to get Vista running on my PC... no THAT was something to complain about...

Hmmm. I dumped all the EXS24 capsules into the correct folder and some of them don't work. The acoustic guitar capsule doesn't work at all.(EXS can't find the samples?) Others are hit and miss, like the electric guitars capsule. Groove capsule isn't working in EXS either. Can anyone help me sort this out?

I was able to download the Mac UFO installers and create and install CD's successfully for all Capsules except the Studio Drums - it keeps asking for the CD and won't recognize the install CD. Any ideas? Here's the end of the logfile created by UFO - I follow the path in the log and it exists.  I've tried it on 2 different Mac's with the same results (one tiger one leopard).

ST version of the Capsules are ready in your member's area, except for the Studio Drums that need to be checked and uploaded.
To resume :
Bass, Eclectic drums, Electric Guitar, Accoustic Guitars and Grooves are now in the Sampletank format in your member's area.

The other formats will be uploaded in the next week or so.
