Yes you can hook it up to a midi keyboard.

Through USB can send and receive midi commands
Trough MIDI can only receive.

An editor will exist in future versions where you can edit all parameters. etc. etc.

I'm willing to learn.

Should I ...

a) not compare a proper hardware synth to blofeld because it's no more than a softsynth in a dinky little box or
b) not compare a softsynth to blofeld because blofeld is a proper hardware synth?

..allright then, thank you...

I have nothing against software as I love my FM8. I just do not understand why all this war between software vs hardware.

Personally I hate mouse and I am convinced that midi controllers like KORE , simply do not work for deep editing.

How about answering the question

are you convinced that a 2x3" LCD screen and half a dozen knobs do work for 'deep editing' then? :hihi:
An idiot on Set Theory:

yes it's software in a box.

but it's pretty darn good software in that box!!

i bet your dual core will have a hard time even to produce 2-4 voices of these algo's ;-)

i remember in the day loading the Nord modular G2 demo editor which was limited to Mono... and my machine hit RED immediately.

and one can expect high quality DAC's too, more quality than i suspect most people have in their souncards

and it's more fun to play with this dedicated instrument you know inside out.

it's definately a creativity booster.
something that stands out from all those (pretty) flatscreen plug-ins...

it has the price of an overpriced plug-in and it's guaranteed itwil sound mighty! and original!

it is software put in a box so you can adore it  . this software deserves it :hihi:

and hopefully it will open a door to many young artists who now have a chance to taste from the magick of a real hardware synth

:P

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this thing a mini ITX board in a box?

If so, the DAC's will be whatever shite is incorporated into the motherboard.

YES, because it's integrated in a smart way, just like the Nord modular G2's

you will be surprised.

most of the time it's even more simple to navigate this way, because your screen is not flooded with all the different sections...

this way you learn to create a sound step by step, in an ordened fashion in stead of turning knobs on a screen at random cause there is so many of them and you don't know what does what and are to lazy to find out cause it sounds crap and feels crap most of the ime anyway and there are 1000 + more VST's to check out so you sjust ditch the thing

i started programming sounds on a goddamn µKorg, but i learned so much from it!! cause it forced you to KNOW what you are doing. now i program a µKorg blindfolded :hihi: and even prefer that over turninh softknobs on a flatscreen... the thrill of turning that hardware knob and hearing this machiene reacting tothat with utter detail is something i usually have with softsynths, but of course there are exceptions :D

Why?

Im presuming your ignorant of the fact that the G2 emulator is actually running an emulation of the G2's processor while it works, and thus is absolutely f**king useless as a metric of what the x86 processor could achieve in comparison to the G2.

Most people except serious musicians, that is.

...and develop a hatred for those 'magickal' tiny LCD screens... why d'ya think the G2 needs a PC-based editor?

Bollocks. You need a PC to edit a G2.

i do not think so, but probably will heavily depend on the manufacturer. for example i DO know the quality of the DAC's in my Nord Modular are very high quality. so i have been told by many people... i Think they are great and sound very crist etc and different then what comes out of my m-audio delta 1010. they had gold blabla :hihi: , maybe it was jsut commercial talk, but i think you can expect high quality from a wellknown and respected manufacturer

uhu, true but this is because the PC flatscreen shines when it comes to complicated soundsynthesis (which i like). you just NEED a computer screen to getto a level of comlexity as that! very true. i was referring the 'live' aspect of the modular G2 after you build your complex synthsizer in the editor. The G2 fronpanel allows you thento very elegantly get acces to A LOT of parameters very easily. but of course!!!! the synthbuilding itself (cause that is what you do with the G2 editor: building synths) is done on a computerscreen. i think there is a big diference.

for example once i made the synth and programmed the sequencer etc, i make my patches and parameter tweaks with the G2 front panel and not with the mouse. at thatstage the G2 rocks any computerscreen.

i hope you understand the difference i'm pointing at here :?

and let's not forget that this G2 (expanded in my case) is an ectremely powerful synthesis machine... wich WOULD eat a lot of CPU from your comp. with the G2 i have beatiful fully tweackable soundscapes, rhythms sequenced stuff, noodles... going on, and my CPU hits 0.5% still fully capable of now layering with weteve you want badass softsynth, + a buch of high CPU demending efx processors etc (reverbs especially in my case) and all of this live

you try that :P
